Dishwasher Door Tension Adjust on Electrolux EDW5500DSS

I would like to increase the spring tension on the door of my Electrolux EDW5500DSS dishwasher. An installation manual references a door spring tension adjustment bracket, but it is not visible. I removed the outer panel screws from the front and can pry back the panel an inch or so, but it appears like the unit uses some type of spring and hydraulic mechanism which reaches from the bottom of the door toward the top of the dishwasher on the side. Is there an accessable way to adjust it without uninstalling the whole unit?

I just adjusted my Electrolux DW springs. The springs are on the bottom sides near the back. They pull on cables that hold the door (via pulleys). The springs can be moved to five different holes to change the tension, but I needed to pull the DW about 2/3 out for side access.

SOURCE: Door Tension Adjustment on Electrolux Dishwasher

you should be able to remove the lower acess panel, and the tension springs are on both sides, cant really picture how to adjust tension( font or back), but there should be enough room to get a flashlight and you hands under there to make the adjustment

How do I adjust the springs on the door of a Frigidaire dishwasher Model # FDB24?

Springs run down both sides of the dishwasher from the door hinge to the back leg area of the frame at the bottom leg area. You adjust the spring/door tension but moving the spring to different holes in the frame area. Going one direction in the holes will loosen the door, going the other direction will make the door tighter.

Bosch dishwasher door tension

Most dishwashers have big springs that run front to back at the bottom sides of the body. These are the door springs. Tension is adjusted by moving the spring to one of several holes in the frame. One way will give you less tension on the door the other way will increase it. If the dishwasher is new, why not call service and let them deal with it. Should be under warranty.

What could be causing the door latch to release late in the wash cycle of my Kenmore Ultra dishwasher?

The door spring tension might be causing the door latch to become disengaged. Check the level of the dishwasher and also adjust door spring tension. Will need model number to provide more details.

How do i find the leak sensor on my electrolux dishwasher?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand you want to know where the leak sensor is on your Electrolux dishwasher, model# EDW5500DSS. Typically the leak sensor will be located underneath the tub area. There are no diagrams that show exactly where the sensor is located. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your appliance and will be able to best assist. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Adjusting door spring tension on a Bosch dishwasher

underneath are 2 L-brackets with the springs attached. Pull those out (with the door closed) and tension will be released. Shorten the strings attached to the springs and reinsert the L-brackets.

Door Leak:Electrolux #EDW5500DSS

The leak from the door sounds like the door may have moved could be from the door going down a bit hard (yes we all do it sometimes)to acidently leaning on it etc whatever the cuase this can happen you will need to remove the side panels for this and see where the door hinges mount on the machine there is normally an adjustment there where you can loosen a screw or two and push the dorr for a closer gap when closed(it is also possible that these were loose from the factory)if you machine has no screws to adjust with there will be springs normally on both sides wich can be adjusted with a rod and nut system or by moveing the sping to a new location on the mounting plate(the different positions are marked out.Hope this helps you please let me know if you require any further assistance.Garth

Door Tension

just about the most difficult job to do on a dishwasher, not normally a job for the home mechanic, i am an appliance engineer of 20 years and often shy away from jobs like this,

there is often no adjustment, the hinges are sprained, more often that not by people either putting weight on the door to stand back up, or children climbing on to get higher

the only thing i think you can do is to check the springs are in place and nothing is broken or just come off that can be put back?? sorry

Door catch

Right on the top edge of the machine - get a torch and look directly under the worktop - there are two hex-head screwws about 4" in from each side. Clockwise to increase spring tension.
