Re: I have a virus
Sorry to hear about that. Have you still got the restore disks from when you purchased the computer? If not contact the supplier and ask them to send you some, it will put your computer back to its original state from when you purchased it.

Turn off the computer, and make sure its unhooked from the internet.
On another computer, download the free Avast antivirus (avast.com), and put it on a flash drive, or CD.
Next start your computer in SafeMode. (If you don't see an option press F8 when your computer starts to boot, and select SafeMode from the boot options.)
After your computer has booted in SafeMode, put in the CD or flash drive and install the antivirus. After it installs do a full system scan. (If it ask to restart your computer let it, but make sure you boot in safe mode.)
This should get rid of the viruses on the system, and it will prevent future viruses.
Hope that helps,

- With that problem i would recommend a motheboard replacement for your asus inlcuding the power cords to rectify the issue.
- before sending this to replace the motherboard backup all your files and save it into an external hdd/ dvd disc
- Windows reinstallation is need after replacing the mainboard.
-that should solve your problem.
I guess your OS infected via virus and that create some diffculty to run OS system. batter your run antivirus 1st . After finish then restart the system . if the same then you need to format OS and reinstal it ok.
Run the commands in your Accessories and also don't forget you need to Defrag and run an Anti-Virus software. The proper programs are under Start>All Programs>System Tools>Disk Cleanup and Defrag. When the housekeeping is done, if your computer is still running slow then the best thing you can do is upgrade the amount of RAM. That will make a noticeable difference.
Start the computer in SAFE MODE by pressing f8 during bootup before the windows flash screen comes up -select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING- it will start slower than normal and open in safe mode printed in each corner of the screen.
If you ave not updated your virus software , nows a good time.
Run your virus software, it should be able to catch the virus in safe mode.
Your acer is infected with virus that current antivirus cannot detect. uninstall new application programs that make your computer slower. however if non of those causes; please try to check the memory maybe is not function well. if it is not the cause then; You should reinstall your system to fixed all error on it. ( note: reinstalling will remove some important files and you should back up) Further more; the best thing to do is format the HDD and install the new windows.
Harry: take note: that other causes of the computer slower is the HDD , I encountered 50 times problems that computer become slower bcoz of the hard drive mulfunction. If this is the case you should replace hard drive that is covered with warranty.
