I have not been able o either change the colour of the background to e-mails from "outlook express" or place a picture as a background. Having sent e-mails to myself and tried to change the background for a picture what I get back is a picture as an attachment. My e-mails are set to HTML. I think some recipients get the mail as I intend it, but it does not show on my system.

Hi

I see you say that you have set you email to html but have you set it to read html mail?

If you click Tools/Options and then click the read tab check that the Read all messages in plain text is not ticked.

How to download outlook express to send mails


You can't really download Outlook Express as it is part of Windows XP.
If it is not there, you can add it though the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel. Select the Windows Components icon in the left-hand pane.

In Vista Outlook Express is replaced by Windows Mail, and in Windows 7 there is no email program, but you can download Windows Live Mail.

Need to change e-mail server in my pop up for outlook express on my presario SR1403WM


Who is your email service provider? it's easy to change the email server settings.

Outlook Express 5/6
1. Open Outlook Express
2. Click on "Tools"
3. Click on "Accounts"
4. Click on "Mail" Tab
5. Click your existing Email account and click on "Properties"
6. On the pop-up window click on "Servers" tab
7. You can change the pop server that you have there
8. Press ok, then close then close and open Outlook express

We have outlook express. We can go online, send e-mails, but cannot receive e-mails. Only the first one comes in. case # 8032193741


If you can send but not receive then check your server names. In Outlook Express, click on Tools, Account Settings, highlight your account. Click "Change" to gain access to the settings. The Incoming and Outgoing server names are determined by your Internet Provider. Place the provided names in the fields, and restart Outlook Express.

(Outlook Express) Email is not configured to relay mail to address
Try this settings:

Outlook Express
  1. Click Tools then Accounts
  2. Click Mail
  3. Click Properties
  4. Click Servers
  5. In the Account Name field, it should be the first part of your email address (probably it's like this already).
  6. Put a checkmark by My Server Requires Authentication at the bottom of the page.
  7. Click Settings
  8. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  9. Click Apply
  10. Click OK
  11. Click Close
This should fix the Outlook Express to send email, close Outlook Express and re-open it to start sending mail.

Microsoft Outlook
  1. Click Tools then Email Accounts (Accounts and Services on older versions of Outlook)
  2. Click View and Change and Click Next (skip if it opens up to the account screen)
  3. Click Change or Properties of your Email Account
  4. Click More Settings
  5. Click Outgoing Server
  6. Check My Server Uses Authentication
  7. Select Log on Using
    • Type Account Name (which will be your full email address)
    • Type Password (which will be your email address password)
  8. Click OK
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Finish

This should fix the Outlook to send email. Close Outlook and re-open it to start sending mail.

E-mail problem with my gateway


Try the following in Outlook express:

- Select Extra
- Select Options
- Select the Security TAB
- Make sure the second checkbox from the top is marked active
- Restart Outlook Express

This will allow you to open attached files.

Start Outlook Express, click on the "tools" heading at the top of the screen, click on "options" in the drop down pane, select the "general" tab, at the bottom of the pane select "make default" this will make the default mail handler Outlook Express, no need to uninstall the other one.
