Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Carver CT-17 pre-amp does not give me the front display.

System shuts down the display and when it heats up again the display is good. When the display dies the sound also dies, and the stereo is useless until the display goes live again.
I have been living with it but it is starting to get annoying during a party when it shuts off.
I have torn it apart but can not get it totally apart, so I will try again. The system also does a reset and I loose all my programmed stations and it resets to lowest FM frequency.

Try replacing C901, a 47uF/25v capacitor that is part of the FL display circuit.

Sorry- C901 is located on the power supply board. It's located next to D908, a small DIP rectifier.

ARGH! You can't edit solutions. It's not C901, I misread the board. It's C908. Really sorry about that.

I recently bought a carver c1000a theater reciever and i have a set of 501 bose and a set of 901 bose is there going to be any problem hooking up the active eq for the 901s?

Yup, theBose 901's need their own amplifier dedicated. Get yourself a nice Carver M-100T or M400 Cube and run 'em off the Active Eq attached to the C1000 Front Pre-Outs.

Just wondering, why is this a new question to ponder if you've had the 501's and 901's all along. They never could coexist on a single amp.

I have 901's up front and 301's all around.

I have the following equipment and am going crazy trying to figure out how they get connected together. I also have the Carver Multi CD player and Carver Cassette Deck which I was able to connect to the...

Get a separate amp for the 901's and the rest falls into place.

1,2, 5) Place the 901 Active EQ between the pre/main front OUT of the receiver and the TFM-55X. Attach the 901's. Keep track of the jumpers you remove from the receiver. Or replace the jumpers with RCA splitter cables so you still have pre/main connection but can share the output with the TFM.

3) Pinnacle subwoofer (self-powered?) to the subwoofer out of the receiver.

4) Bose (AMS???) 5. As surrounds on the receiver. Place the sub module toward the rear so it mates sonically and directionally with them.

What? No center speaker? I'd get something more robust with bass capabilities, like a pair Bose 301 series 1's because the tweeters face in one direction only.

Except for the amps and the cube stuff that is essentially what I have. 6.1 with full-range speakers everywhere.

I am trying to connect my equalizer to the Carver model C1 preamplifier and the amplifier.

The output of the pre-amp should go to the input of the equalizer and the output of the EQ should go to the amp.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Connecting NAD 314 Receiver\ preamp to Carver M-500t to speakers

Dear Tim,
Yes, you can connect your NAD as a preamp to the Carver power Amp.

Connect the NAD's pre-out to the input of the Carver Power Amp. You can then connect the Klipsch speaker to the Carver. Set the gain control on the NAD.

Now you should be able to control all the input and the main volume control from the NAD.

Turntable to reciever connections

check the continuity in your cables. you will need a multimeter or something else to check the cables. the multimeter is about $10 or so. other than that, make sure that your turntable is actually giving output and that the pre amp is both recieving and sending(same with the regular amp. and make sure that the levels are up on everything and the speakers connected properly etc. you probably know this already, but sometimes a good, friendly reminder helps. good luck!!
