Question about Abit IS7 Motherboard
I'm lost. I got this computer without OS or working hard drive. I installed a couple old hard drives and now running XP home - but sound is not recognized. I have been to ABIT's site to try to download new drivers and book for motherboard, but their ftp site not working. Been trying for about 5 hours straight to figure a way to get sound working but I spent most of that time discovering I have no clue what I am doing and I need to keep my day job. (I have also thought about flashing bios, but 1) I'm scared I'll screw it up and 2) same problem with ftp site.)
Did you try downloading realtek ac97 sounddriver it worked on my abit board.

Yeah i would say just keep trying to find a driver for it thats the problem is that it isnt installed..you could look under device manager and see if it even recognizes it right click my computer go to properties then to hardware and device manager under sound cards or whatever maybe u can get a more specific model number of the sound card good luck

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
