If it won't pop back into the cradle that holds it in standing position, take off the entire hose and check for long items such as pens and pencils.

SOURCE: Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner

Hello,

It sounds like to me that you probably have a clog in the hose port, or that your attachment hose may have a hole in it. Both of these problems are common problems on the Dyson DC07 model.

The first place you should check is the clog part that's directly underneath of the hose. Pull this port out and see if you can see anything lodged inside the clog port:

8b33cd4.jpg
If you aren't able to find the clog here, then pull the wand and hose out of the vacuum. With the vacuum cleaner off, pull the hose out as far as it goes, and inspect the entire hose assembly from the end that the wand connects into, until the end that fits into the vacuum itself. A lot of times this hose will tear due to the sharp end of the wand as the hose is being pushed back up the wand.

If neither of these solutions worked, please just use the clarification request form here on the Fixya repair page, and I'd be happy to do some more advanced diagnosing with you to figure this out.

If this was helpful to you, please help other Fixya users find this answer by rating the repair helpful, by clicking the thumbs up icons in the top right hand corner of the repair.

Thank you very much,

SOURCE: A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

short of using epoxe etc which may not bond to plastic material I would call Dyson to see if the part can be replaced or what? I am sure you are not the only one this has happened to.

No suction on wand of Dyson DC14 Animal

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose from the machine as if you were going to use it to vacuum the stairs. Switch the machine on and test the suction at the top of the wand handle with your hand. If the suction from the wand is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction again from the top of the hose. If the suction here is good, then you know the wand handle is blocked. If the suction is poor at the hose, you can remove the hose from the machine and clear any blockages here.

For the full blockage procedure please visit the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

I have the dc 17 animal model and there are no instructions in how to use the attachments, how they connect and so on.I have to assume that this is not an uncommon question considering that the box was...

You can call the Dyson helpline for information on how to fit the attachments. Generally, you can fit them on the wand and the hose (wand - directly on top of the red piece of plastic, hose - take the wand off the back of the vac and press the red button where the hose connects to the wand - this will remove the wand and you can attach the tools to the hose). With a DC17 Animal you probably have a Mini Turbine Head (a tool with its own brushbar - greay with red bristles) - if you have a gray button on it this is probably making you ask how it attaches to your vac - this tool is actually compatible with many other Dyson models but in your case it just fits on top of the hose and/or wand - it doesn't click into anything. As long as the fit is tight/snug, you're good.

HOW DO I RELEASE THE WAND ON THE DYSON DC 17?

It's sometimes hard to remember which of these models is which! You should have the machine in the upright position, then I think all you have to do is grasp the top of the wand and just pull it upwards. I hope this helps.

Dyson DC 14 animal bagless--unable to use wand

Hi.

Try these tests & tell me the results.

Remove the hose & wand completely from the machine it unclips at the bottom of the back.

Leave handle in full upright position & switch on do you still get the sound of something blocked ?

If yes remove the (U) shaped inspection port again at bottom back of machine now repeat last test what happens ?

Please reply with your answers.
