Hi Kieron

Open door then turn off power. Undo 3 bolts around door seal. Remove soap draw. Undo the screws. Peel off door seal at front of machine and fold in towards drum. Metal spring catch located at bottom behind pump filter door. Now open up front of machine (its hinged on the right). Good luck

Brushes do not work

if the old brushes does not work (there is an activated autostop from inside the brush to protect the armature collectors to get the spring after the brush between it . 1 look at the color of the fieldcoil of the motor and also the commutator (all collectors of the armature)
in 60% of cases with motors between 1200 and 1800 watt in many cases it is not worth the brush exchange. field coil is dark colored then the bearings are dry
Often the engines in a number of operating hours built and only has one collector to stabbing something and within a week you lose your brushes again, have you a motor in a Vacuum below 1000w then is the change to make 1 succesfully change of the brushes much higher . in most cases there are several equivalent motors for vaccuums The brand fixapart is one of the very good motors to use for equivalent . its good in Festool Protool Starmix and many more

Here an example

How to replace a Miele vacuum cleaner motor brush?

You have to disassemble the unit to get to the brushes. It can be quite a pain sometimes, but if the unit is not working and you don't want to pay to have it fixed (most times repair is more then replacement cost), then give it a try. Once you get to them, moist units have a screw cap or metal tabs on the end of the tube the brushes are inside of. Unscrew the cap or bend tabs open to pull the brushes out to replace. On older models you may not get the parts. If you can find any olde type C or D CARBON batteries carefully open them up, remove the center carbon rod and file shape the rod to make you own brushes. Can be messy, but works great when the parts are no longer avaolable.

HI , I REPLACED MOTOR BRUSHES ,BUT MOTOR IS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE ,AS IF MOTOR IS LOOSING CONTACT ,LIKE A BURNING SMELL. CHEERS

Hi there,
Most likely you have a damaged commutator. I used to change the brushes on the dyson vacuums but what i found is that it is almost never completely successful. THe Dyson motor is not as good quality as say a miele and when the brushes go they normally cause damage to the commutator. THe best bet is to replace the motor. If you were able to swap the brushes a motor change will be easy for you. If you are in Australia you can get the motors from VacuumSpot or Nelson Vacuums.

My Miele capricorn has started making an odd noise. It seems like something is blocking the engine. I've turned if off and on, and reset it and it still have the odd, almost loud barking noise. The power...

Greetings,

This is a major problem. The Miele vacuums motor should never make a loud noise, period. The way the motor is designed, it's quiet and should be quiet for the life of the motor. There are two motors on your Miele canister. One of the motors controls only the suction of the vacuum, while the other motor controls the power brush. Which one of your motors is making this horrible noise? You can tell this by removing the wands and power brush so that you just have the handle of the hose by itself. Now turn on the vacuum, do you still hear this noise? If yes, then this is a problem with your suction motor, and you need to bring this in to have an authorized Miele repair center take a look at it. The reason I say that is because you have a 7 year warranty on that suction motor, so if something is wrong with that motor, then this will be covered under Miele warranty. If it's the power brush motor that's causing the sound, this probably will not be covered unless the vacuum is under 1 year old. If it is the power brush, please just use the clarificaiton request here on Fixya and let me know, I'd be more then happy to try and walk you through diagnosing the power brush motor with you.

I hope this was helpful to you. If you did find this helpful, please be sure to click the thumbs up icon in the repair. I really appreciate it.

Rinse light flashing on miele novomatic washing machine

Check the motor for worn brushes and or noisy bearings while it is removed for service. Any auto mechanic should have experience replacing brushes and bearings. Much cheaper than ordering a new motor. New brushes and bearings should cost around $30. The shop time should not exceed one hour. Miele charges about $50 for brushes if you can not find a local supplier. The W1930 motor that I rebuilt used a 6202Z and a 6201Z bearing set.
