Question about Lexmark X2500 All-In-One Printer

My X2550 works fine until I log on remotely to work. I have manage to get it to finally print but it only does so when I then log off remotely to work my printing then comes out any ideas how to change this please

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

just take out the colour cartridge from the printer, then you will be able to print.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

ok, based on the information I will start with the simple solution first - if this does not resolve your issue can you answer the questions I will add and we can go into more advanced troubleshooting.
The common cause of printing problems is a driver issue. So click here and download then install the drivers and print again - you are best off to restart to PC once the drivers are installed just to make sure the setting have been updated.
If this does not work can you tell me the answers to the following
What version of Operating system are you using? Did the printer ever work with this computer? Have you changed anything since the last time the printer worked? Is this problem on all prints or just form a single type of printing, best way to check this is to print a test page?

In Windows 7, items put in the print queue at home won't print when I get to the office.


I don't see how this can be done, because there are 2 different print queues in question. Not to mention the lag and buffer required by the printer. So when you disconnect communication the job hangs.

Besides the spooler at work my lie on a dedicated print server, especially if the printer is on a network and and not attached directly to you PC.

My HP 1120cxi was workinh fine until i reinstalled windows XP pro. now it doesnt print. tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and driver, but it just prints 1 line of gibberish

Downloading Lexmark X2550 for Driver for Vista


Go to Lexmark website to download the print driver. You may be able to find the the complete install file there also. If the printer is extremely old there is a very good chance it may not work with Vista. Hope this helps and good luck!

Windows Vista Limited User issue


change the user account to administrator, to unlock privileges.
That should solve your problem, remember to restart the pc so changes are made in the registry

To get your printer to recognize the new cartridge; go to start - printer and faxes -right click on printer - preferences (printing preferences) -settings -load factory settings. Print test page Ctrl+P
