Question about Computers & Internet
Hi. So, my old router (linksys) has been driving me crazy lately. Every few minutes internet connection would just drop and I had to unplug the power and plug it back in and sometimes even that wouldn't work. So I thought it was time to throw that out and now I'm using Thomson router (TG585 v7). It works great. All I had to do was download this 'assist' programme which did everything for me. Currently there are 2 computers (laptop and desktop) connected to this router and they both work find. Just when everything seemed to be going smoothly... I have this internet phone (myLG 070) which uses internet to call other internet phones for free. It worked fine with linksys router but somehow thomson router doesn't seem to allow the phone to connect to it. So, in device webpage, under home network, 'allow new devices' are set to 'new stations are allowed (automatically)' and firewall (under tools) is disabled so I don't think it's blocking anything,, (at least that's what I think). and under security, Encryption is set to 'Use WPA-PSK Encryption'. and for WPA-PSK Version: i selected 'WPA' So when I try to connect to the router using the phone, it asks for the password/security key so I typed in the password and it says 'connecting...' but nothing happens. When I look at the devices detected by the router, there are 2 pc and the internet phone ! so I don't know why it won't connect. On the left side of devices, there is a little icon which are either in pink or blue. I think pink means it's currently connected (this laptop I'm using at the moment has pink icon) and blue means it's not connected (the other pc which is turned off at the moment has blue icon) and this phone has pink icon beside it so I don't know what the problem is. I even tried disabling the security so anyone within the range can connect to my router without password, but still the phone won't connect and I'm out of ideas. I need some help plz!! I'm a computer dummy so I don't really understand those technical terms. But I'm great at following step-by-step instructions :) Thanks in advance
Using a command prompt and telnet:
Type in telnet 192.168.1.254 and hit Enter. If this doesn't work, then you don't have Telnet installed and will need to go to Start ? Control Panel ? Programs ? Programs and Features ? Turn Windows Features on or off ? Ensure TELNET CLIENT is checked and click OK.
When prompted, the default username is Administrator (case sensitive) and the default password is either blank or the serial number of the router (case sensitive):Click to open image
Type in "connection unbind application=SIP(TCP) port=5060" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. If you get a 'unknown command' message returned once you press enter, then type in: "connection unbind application=SIP port=5060" (without the quotation marks)
Type in "saveall" and press Enter to apply and make this setting permanent

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

First, try adding a wireless card to the Xbox, run the wireless off of the router OR if you have multiple connections (broadband, should be an "In" port, and several "Out" ports) Try connecting your PC and you Xbox through the "Out" ports, with the cable modem cord hooked into the "In" port...
