Why is my henry vacuum cleaner not working motor running but no suction ?

Hi I will try to guide you though this problem.
When you switch it on do you get air blown out of the vent on the machine housing.if not there may be a blockage.
if you take the hose off, do you have suction on the main body.
if so pipe is blocked.
if no suction then, do you have a bag in it. If so remove the bag and reassemble and try again.
there should also be a sealing ring with a fabric on it between the motor head and the body, is this very dirty or missing.
if none of the above works then I would assume that the fan is adrift on the motor.
i would advise a qualified person investigates further as risk of electric shock if you dismantle the advice.
please let me know how you get on.

No suction for the hand tools

If your suction is ok for normal cleaning and bad for just the hand tools then you have a blockage in the flexible hose or the "u pipe" at the bottom of the flexible hose. Un-clip the u pipe and check it for blockage. Un-clip the hose from the vacuum and you should be able to look through it when letting it hang straight down.

Hello this vacuum cleaner has great suction through the hose but not in the main part, it will not pick up i have cheked to see if it is blocked but does not appear to be. any ideas?

If it sucks through the hose it must have a blockage in the pipe or at the head. Remove head and check for hairs and thread which often cause dust to collect there in a knot. Clean the brushes. You should be able to see daylight at the end of the pipe. Put your fingers in the part of the head that goes onto the pipe and feel for a blockage. Or push a thin wire through.

My vacum will not pick up, it is spitting the dirt out?

Check for blockage.

Most likely place is in the tube leading up from behind the beater bar. While unplugged, remove beater bar & belt & check.

If you have a strong shop vac, remove beater bar, belt, and bag, applying suction to the tube in back of the beater bar will many times dislodge the clog with little effort, sometimes though it will take some fishing around with a stiff piece of coathanger wire or similar.

Normally when you can apply suction with the shop vac to the tube in back of the beater bar & feel suction at the tube were the bag connects, you know you've got it all and you should be unclogged. Put it back together and you should be ready to roll.

My henry wont pick up any dirt and how do i change the filter ...

The filter on a Henry does not need changing (unless torn or
damaged). It simply neeeds cleaning, either by vacuuming with
another machines or brushing clean. For maximum suction, air
must be able to flow through it. Next, change the bag. Finally
remove hoses and pipes etc and switch on, the suction that you can feel by putting your hand against his "nose", is the same suction that you should feel when pipes are back on.

If it is not, then you will have a blockage, usually in the flexi hose, but drop a coin through in order to establish where.

DC07 animal. When I use the 'wand', the tube is sucked back into the pipe.

Hi there,
This is a simple one. You have a blockage in your suction hose. Remove the hose entirely from the machine and retrieve the blockage. You do have to be careful what you use to remove the blockage as you dont want to dage the hose. If it is not moveable or the hose is damaged you can purchase a replacement from or
Hope this helps!

My henry vacuum has lost suction and there's no blockage in the pipe.

Suction cannot be lost if the motor is running normally unless the air flow has been interupted. Lift out and clean the filter so air can flow through, replace the bag, unscrew the flexi hose at his "nose", and also remove from the steel pipes. Finally drop a

The vaccum cleaner is switching on but it not sucking any items.

Hi there,

Well first of all you can follow the below steps -
1. Start by checking the brush head of the vacuum to see if anything is stuck at the very beginning, and if so, remove the blockage.
2. Next remove the straight wands and look through them for a blockage before doing the same with the flexible hose. It is easy to look through the flexible vacuum hose by letting one end dangle and looking downward toward the floor.
3. To remove any blockage, gently push a rod similar to a broomstick though the vacuum tubing.
4. Lastly, check out the machine itself. While all vacuums are different, most of them have a removable plate on the backside and you only need to remove the screws and take off this plate to get at the areas that might be blocked. hope it helps......

Good Luck!!
