Hints for odor of oil coming through vents

The first thing most people should do is get their manual out and find out the location of the "cabin air filter". On many cars, it is behind the glove box. This is a filter that needs changed out from time to time. If you can't find it, drive to an auto shop, ask them to sell you the filter and explain to you how to find it and change it out.
Another thing that can be done for car odor is to clean the leaves off the outside vents near base of windshield, turn on AC, select fresh air (NOT recirculate) set fan at full blast, roll down windows, and spray the outside vents on both sides with Lysol. Scotty Kilmer has a great video on YouTube showing how this is done. "Getting Rid of Stinky Car AC Odors" .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrVc_FXrbHY

Hi dear. Please do the following try to solve the issues. Please clean the bottom & upper spray arm. They must been blocked. That makes a lot of water pressure on top spray arm & it comes off. Also blocked spray arms resulting poor wash performans. With the odour, check the drain pump. It's non return valve. It should work properly. Also check for siphoning. That can cause bad odour. Please click the link below for meore help from it's user manual.Section: Cleaning & Care Page 42. I hope that helps.Thanks.

Whirlpool Duet GHW9250MW1 We have to leave the door open between loads to let the gasket around the window dry - after wiping the gasket & window. Has a slight odor. We've noticed a discoloration on...

Leaving the door open on a front loader is not only a great idea, it is recommended by the manufacturer. This not only allows the tub to air out, it also minimizes mold and mildew from forming, However, if you are beginning to experience a musty odor, the following link can give you some suggestions on things to do to keep the washer running odor free:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608512-getting_rid_front_loader_mildew_odor

The most commmon cause(s) are small articles of clothing get trapped in the folds of the door bellow. Its a good idea to routinely check this area after each wash load. Socks are notorious for ending up in the door bellow and beginning to mildew.

Another common cause is debris in the drain pump reservoir beginning to sour. It may be a good idea to check the drain pump to make sure there's nothing lodged in it. The following link explains how to check the pump:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574284-checking_the_drain_pump_on_a_front_loade

I personally own a front loader and have never had a problem with odors or mildew in the 9 years I've had it by following this regiment.

As far as the bellow is concerned. Some discoloration can be caused by the water you have. In particular if the water contains iron. Some of these stains may or may not come off. You can try using a 50/50 mix of bleach and water in a spray bottle to spray the bellow. Allow it sit for a few minutes, then srub with a green kitchen scouring pad. DO NOT use steel wool, sandpaper, emery paper, or SOS pads. They can damage the rubber. The green scouring pads are considered safe, but abrasive enough for cleaning.

Read through the links provided and let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.

Odor in my home

There may be mildew on the condensor (the big radiator inside the attic) and/or the water drip tray underneath it may not be fully draining causing the odor.
Your senses get "used" to the odor. Your brain will mask it so that you will be able to sense other odors.

Replace the return air filter more often. clean the airway taht the filter covers. Spray Lysol will help temporarily.
You must check the condensor & water drip pan.

WATER IS COLLECTING AND STAYING IN THE GASGET AND HAS AN ODOR, HELP, Please

Betty, this is problematic of all front loading washers. I have some helpful suggestions, which have helped us with our own front loading washer.

First, whenever you're done doing a load of laundry, don't close the door all the way shut. Leave it open a couple of inches for a day to let it air dry out, which will prevent the nasty smelling odor you're getting.

I also take a small rag/washcloth to wipe out the door seal/gasket after we're done washing, that way, there's less water to contribute to foul odors, etc.

The other thing we discovered is to make our last load of wash the hot water wash, whenever we're doing whites, or the stain cycle. This helps get rid of any gunk that might hang around between wash days.

Now we don't always have a hot water wash everytime we do laundry, but by just wiping out the gasket and leaving the door open, we eliminated the odor issues completely.

Frankly, the gasket shouldn't have to be wiped out when you're done washing, but that's a design issue that we've overcome with a simple washcloth. So just do these simple steps and you'll save yourself some frustration.

We really like how clean our laundry gets with the front load washer and how little water is needed to do a load, so we've decided it's worth taking the time to wipe the gasket once we're done for the day, and to leave the door open to prevent any nasty odors.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Strong mildew odor in Duet washer

are you useing he detergent? if not this is your problem the washer cannot get ride of the soap so what it does is leave a layer of film in your washer and odor causeing bacteria forms in it. There is a product called AFFRESH you can buy it at SEARS it is made specifically for this. Do you leave the door open ragularly? The reason I am asking is because your washer is like your bathroom if you do not ventilate it properly it will grow mold and it needs to be cleaned. By leaving the door closed all the time it is very easy for the bacteria to grow.
So my advice is to leave the door open, make sure you are useing the correct soap (HE) high efficiancy soap, clean the washer with no clothes hot water and bleach and use the affresh or washer magic. Since you can smell the smell you are going to have to keep cleaning it abouit 2-3 times a month till it goes away. Then once a month. This is not a machanical problem or a whirlpool problem and is very commen in ALL front loader if you do not clean it regularly.

I have a Duet washer with a severe odor problem. We keep the door open when it is not in use. We have tried the Affresh tablets with no success. I am currently running a bleach cycle weekly, and it only...

The Duet has a filter trap that's pretty easy to clean. There could be debris catching residue and not allowing the washer to drain right. Remove the toe panel with a torx bit and turn the filter handlt to the left. Have towels handy because there is always a gallon or two of water left in washers after they drain! Cleaning the filter trap should be regarded as regular preventive maintenance.

Leaving the door open will actually make the problem worse because it dries out the odor-causing residue and makes it much harder to remove. If your washer stinks with the door open or shut it's time for a good cleaning before it gets worse! The area of heaviest buildup is always between the inner stainless tub and the outer plastic tub. After your washer has been cleaned you'll need to change your washing habits so odor doesn't return. If this doesn't remove bad odor you'll need a good washer cleaner.

Dog smell after cleaning

This is an inherent problem with bagless vacuums. The filter(s) will absorb odors and odors will get trapped in places that you cannot clean. This is why I always recommend bagged units. They are easier to clean and the odors go out with the bag. About the only thing you can do is put a deodorizer in the machine and keep the filter clean. Be careful not to use petroleum based deodorizers as they can affect the plastic.
