Question about Sony PlayStation 3 (250 GB) Black Console

1 Answer

My ps3 is stuck on 99% in a system update, if I re-start it just automatically goes straight into the system update and again gets stuck on 99%. How can I fix this?

If the power button hold doesn't work...try this...,
Take the clip out that holds the drive. Take the screw out but leave the drive inside.
When the update begins, pull your drive out. You will get an error message and it tells you to restart your system to try again. Instead, let the time run out, and your screen will go blank for about 30 seconds until it starts back up telling you that you need to reformat the drive. (If you don't get this message after 30 secs the first time, YOU HAVE TO REPEAT IT till it does. Then put your drive back in again making sure your controller is plugged in (wired in with USB) and press the PS3 button on the controller. It will then ask you to either press start and select at same time OR PS3 Button PRESS START and SELECT. Do not agree to any user agreements!! Make sure you hit cancel and it will reset to the startup screen.
* Just wondering....did you recently open your ps3?

SOURCE: ps3 not working

Is there sound? If so, then maybe your video settings got mixed up. Try the video reset.

When the PS3 is in standby mode (red LED lit), hold the Power "button" until it beeps for booting, keep holding until it beeps again (not to turn it off).

If done correctly you should see something again (480p resolution) allowing you to change settings.

I hope this will help you out.

Greetings,

DarkNeogen.

On a system update it only goes to 99% and stops and doesnt do anything else

First go into your system settings and find 'Media Connection' in network settings. Disable that and try again.

If that does not work, download the update from your pc to a flash drive or disk and update your PS3 that way. http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/pc_update/index.htm

Lastly, if the above does not work you may need to disable UPnP in your router settings if you are using a router to connect your PS3.

If you do not know your routers IP adress do the following:

-Go to the computer connected to your router, click start and select run in the bottom right.
-In the run prompt type cmd and click ok.
-A black window will pop up. Type ipconfig and press enter.
-The 'Default Gateway' will more than likely be your router's IP address.
-Type that number into your internet browser.
-That will connect you to your router and the menu setups will vary based on the type/brand of router you have.
-Find a setting called 'UPnP', disable it, and try your update again.

i had this same problem and the solution to mine was that my ps3 was in my garage and it was too cold in there for the system to operate so i moved it into the living room where it was warm and it eventually began to work

another solution is to just restore the system and then reinstall all of the updates
