Thanks for your suggestion I did try that. The driver from HP was loaded, but it kept telling me the device was not enabled. In device manager, the only network card showing was the ethernet card so I could not find a way to enable it. I finally went to the HP site, got the exact spec for the wireless card, then went to the Intel site to download the driver. Looks like that did that trick and it is up and running now.

There have been a number of solutions for this particular problem, it was documented on the HP community boards and some motherboards were recalled under warranty. Like the infamous Nvidia graphics chip fault, the Wlan would stop functioning after a while, even though it was "seen" in device manager. Sometimes flashing the bios to the latest update would cure it, but more often than not it failed to work.
Replacing the Wlan card also will not work (unless it is that card that has failed). usually the problem is with a fault on the motherboard. In cases like this, I have used a USB network dongle as being the best workaround to the problem.

Screen goes blank when watching videos streamed from the internet

Sounds like your WLAN card this type of problem is common in HP and Dell. Try inserting a wireless USB card and intall the drivers for it. Disable your WLAN built in card by going to network connectins right click on the connection and choose disable. Run the USB card when streaming video from the internet. If the problem is corrected then the issue is for certain your WLAN card. @ that point replacing the WLAN card is optional. The USB card has better range anyway.

Hope this helps and please don't forgetr to rate. Have a great day!

Hi i have a u135 and it hasbuilt in blue tooth but i donot know how to activate could u help

Not sure if this will work for your model but its worth a try. Copied from MSI support faq website
You have to press the WLAN button located right next to the power button in order to enable/disable the Bluetooth function. Press WLAN button once, Enable WLAN. Press WLAN button twice, Enable Bluetooth. Press WLAN button thrice, Enable both WLAN and Bluetooth. Press WLAN button four times, Disable both WLAN and Bluetooth.

Wlan is disabled: nedd to know how to turn on wirless. What switch

The wireless radio is on the media bar over the keyboard to the right hand side. It must be on in order for the WLAN to be enabled.

Below is the service manual, the picture that shows the wireless switch is on page. 9 and 10

My wireless control button won't turn on and i can'g get a wireless signal..

Firstly, you should try updating the BIOS. You can find the latest BIOS on HP.com. To find the correct modell search for the modelnummber. You can find it under the unit on a white lable. It will look something like this AA111BB#CCC. Then go to software and drivers downloads and chose operating system. You should find the latest BIOS somwhere on the page.

You could also check the device manager in case it has been disabled. You can find the device manager by right clicking my computer and selecting manage. If its icon has a red X over it, it is disabled. In witch case just right click it and select enable.

You should also run a system recovery to make sure it isnt caused by other software faults. You can run a system recovery by pressing F11 at the HP logo during boot.

If the WLAN is still malfunctioning after this, the unit will need a new mainboard or WLAN card. Unless your able to change these yourself, the unit wil need to be sendt in for service.

If you have vista click the start button and in the start search type "hp wireless assistant". It should show up in your list while you type it. Click on it. Once the assistant box shows up, click on "properties". A "settings" box should show up. The main one you need here is "independant controls for installed wireless device". Check that box. The other ones are icons and indicators that you can check at your discretion. If in doubt, check them all. Hit the "apply" button. Then in the upper right hand side of the box hit the button that says "turn on". This should activate the device and if you have a light up indicator on your computer, it should change color or light up. That should do it. Kind of weird how it gets to that point.
