How do you get gum out of the dryer

what is your model number is then we can get started then okay

the heater element and/or the stats may need replacing

Did you try to remove the back cover after unplugiging your dryer ,to find a lot of lint in the back of the dryer? Some times you may have to clean in this area for fire safety. Maybe this would sold your problem.

Runs but will not heat
1.loose wiring----check terminals & wiring
2.defective centrifugal switch in motor---replace switch ( check linkage to motor)
3.defective timer---replace
4.open heat element---replace heat element
5..defective operating thermostat---test thermostat, replace if defective
6.fan or it's pulley loose on shaft---tighten set screw
7.incorrect heat or timer settings---reset timer
8.clothes to wet when placed in dryer----wring out or extract water from clothes before placing in dryer
9.clogged lint screen or duct (little air motion)---clean out lint screen & duct

Clothes not drying, but dryer runs & heats

There can be many reasons why your dryer will not start or turn...

It's your carburetor, no doubt. There are very tiny holes (jets) inside there that get clogged or "gummed" up very easily with today's crappy ethanol gasoline. The carb needs to be removed and have a thorough cleaning. If you're good with such things, then look at a video on youtube (there's a ton of them) to help you out. If you're not, then do not mess with the carb. Have a professional do it for you for about 30 or 40 USD. Best of luck to you and Happy 4th.

Did yall move the dryer? The ignitor is very brittle. Moving a gas dryer sometimes breaks an ignitor with a little age on it.

Wet a dryer fabric softener sheet with water; place sheet over gum, wait a few minutes and then gum should be easy to wipe 'up'.
