Question about Xerox Phaser 6180N Laser Printer

If these look like a little squiggles, repeated across the page AND down it, at about 1" spacing.
They are cause by a component in the toner cartridge.
Originally the cleaning roller was a plain roller, but at some time the 'bean counters' decided they could save a tiny bit of money on each cartridge by using a spiral foam roller instead. The foam also seems to be of a different type, and doesn't age well.
There are two solutions.
1. Replace the cartridge that is producing the coloured squiggle/
2, dismantle an OLD cartridge and if it has a plain (non-spiral) foam roller, swap that (along with it's supports - the new type are a different size).
Either of the above will cure the problem, but a new replacement cartridge may also show the problem in time, as it WILL have the spiral cleaning roller.

SOURCE: Xerox Phaser 6180 uses too
In all honesty, its not that they use to much toner. Xerox does NOT put nearly enough toner in their cartridges to get the proper yield.
I have gotten as low as 200 pages out of those cartridges.
I do service on them and they do not give 1/5th the yield they advertise.
Nothing you can do to be honest. But they are hugely inefficient.

Try the link below. If the toner is leaking from the cartridge return it to shop were you got it if it is damaged.

I have 4 of these printers and when we print lots of manuals in full colour and duplexed the printers occasionally get to hot and need to cool down. After a 1/2 hour they are good to go again. I wouldn't worry about it, it happens only when it gets lots of use and I have never had anything go wrong with the printers after these errors
