I need the product key because is erase

If you got your OS from ACER preinstalled on your system during purchase, your product key will be stuck on the back of your laptop. Otherwise, contact the person who sold you you OS license.He/She should be able to help you out.

LAN connection won't work, but wireless does

It sounds like the LAN card may be going bad. You can see if manually setting the IP address in the settings of the LAN card will work. If that works, then the card's routine for negotiating IP address assignment is corrupted. You maybe able to get some more useful life out of it by doing this until you can replace the LAN card itself. If you need more instructions on how to set the IP address manually, reply back and I'll try to step you through it.

Lan and Wireless show they are connected but no data passes

There are many different reasons that this can happen. Could be your wireless router or something in your laptop settings.
Try this:

1. Click start -> type "cmd" (without quotations) press enter.
- In the command prompt type this: "ipconfig /release" (without quotes)
wait for it to release your ip: Then type in same command prompt: "ipconfig /renew"

This should release your ip address then renew it. If this does not work, then it may be your wireless router. There are 2 things you can do here as well. You can either take a cable and plug it into your laptop and into your router. See if you can access the internet like that, if not, then you may have to find something small like a ballpoint pen and press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds. Then remember to redo all your settings on your router. Your manual will tell exactly how to login to your router, as this can be different with every one.

Hope this helps.

sure ... well its not about the serial number ... if ur laptop has something called lowjack ...contact the mfg of the laptop and if u dont have that than in the details of the computer u will have the MAC address of the LAN card ... if u cant find that call the ACER guys and give them the serial number they will be able to locate the MAC address for you ... because they have all the details of the components in ur system and once u get that approach all the internet provider ... with the help of the local police and give them the MAC address if the person who has stolen ur laptop is using internet he will be caught

Power on password

If you have not set a password yourself, contact the person who owns the computer or who sold it to you.
We here at FixYa do not help users crack passwords--we assume that if you are the legal owner of a machine, you should know the password or can contact the person who sold it to you.
Sorry.

Plug in the LAN cable (CAT 5) into your laptop network jack. Make sure the other side is plug into the network outlet jack. Now confirm that you have a link on your LAN adapter, if your laptop has lights for the LAN adapter built in. If it doesn't don't worry. If its connected windows xp will say if its connected or not. If its connected it will try to find a IP address. Make sure DHCP is enabled (Should be set as DHCP as default anyways) if your laptop doesn't get and IP address then there's something wrong with the network your connected to and not your laptop. Contact the system administrator (IT guys) in charged of that network.

**** IF AND ONLY IF***
IF there's no network icon in the taskbar tray then your network adapter is disabled. To enable this right click the network icon on your desktop and select properties now a windows opens up and right click on your LAN adapter and select enable... let windows do its magic and you should be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!
