Wider Satin Stitch???

Hello, I'm making cloth napkins, and I understand about stitch length being very short, but it appears on my old model 12614 that there is only one width setting for the satin stitch. I wish I could make it wider because it would make a nicer finish for my napkins, so any help that any of you could offer would be much appreciated.

p.s. I know my number isn't listed above, but on the front of my user manual, it says it's either a 11607/12614. It's a 12614, and since you had a 11606 listed, I took a chance. This stuff is hard to find! Thanks again!

I'm working on the same machine with the same problem. I am concluding that the cam follower has been broken due to dried lubrication on the shaft it travels on. Can't find any parts on the web to fix it. I have it adjusted so it sews straight and a single width zigzag and that's about it. Would be a good machine for anyone who just sews straight. But I will probably scavenge all the parts I think I might be able to use in the future and scrap the rest out.

What stitch setting do I use for a satin stitch?

Depending upon the machine, whether it is electronic or a manual setting, most settings for satin stitch are shown as a zigzag with Length being the primary changeable setting.
If you want a 1/4 inch stitch, your width should be set for 6mm. on an electronic machine with the Length at or about 0.3 mm.
On a manual machine you will have to adjust the length until you get the effect that you want.
In either case use a scrap of fabric to test your stitches and then record the settings that you like best.

Is a satin stich programed in the machine.

Perhaps newer machines have it, but usually the sewists programs it. All it requires is a wide stitch and short stitch length. The length is adjusted so the thread actually covers the fabric between stitches, but does not overlap itself. Even if the sewist has a programmed satin stitch but there may still be some required adjustments needed since the thickness of the thread will alter the way the stitch looks.

How do I satin stitch h on a Bernina 1130s limited edition?

Satin stitch is a very wide zig-zag stitch with a very short stitch length. I do mine by dropping the feed dogs and guiding the material through by hand (a lot like darning).

On satin stitch setting, machine is only stitching left side

if the fabric is thin then it needs something with it to make it strong enough to handle the stitch,,I suggest trying a washable stabilizer or interfacing & see if that will help the stitch to be normal

I don't know how to make satin stich Janome DC2010

As a general rule of thumb, satin stitch is obtained by selecting zig-zag, turning stitch width up to 3 or 4 and stitch length to 0.5. If you have a clear plastic open toe sewing foot, put that on to help view the area.

If you are doing applique (attaching pieces of fabric to another surface) with a satin stitch, you may also need to use tear away stabiliser underneath or interface the fabric first, it depends on what/where you are doing the satin stitch onto.

And a nice machine embroidery thread will give you a much silkier appearance than plain thread.

I need to satin stitch around the edge of a project

Try using the zig-zag setting, but adjust the stitch length to .3 or .4 (very small).
good luck!
