WS-55809 - Video pinched in center, distorted, yellow/blue/red glow

I've read a few things here about this convergence issue. Although my problem doesn't quite seem the same. I can go in the convergence menu for red or blue and adjust them to distort or clear up the white cross-hair. The center of my screen (where that cross-hair is) is perfectly fine so adjustment is easy and I can see that it does indeed work. I have even used the reset convergence option.

My problem is that I have a pinching from the top and bottom center toward the middle (video extends to all corners though). I don't know how to explain this and wish I had an option to post an image of what I see. Basically what I have is video that extends to all corners, but the top and bottom center is pinched in toward the center of the screen (like a rainbow?). There are red, blue and yellow lines surrounding the distorted images. Text (like the menu) makes this very easy to see as there is an outline (ghosts if you will) of these other colors around the text and the text or lines are curved toward the center of the screen.

This of course causes a very distroted picture. The center of the screen (left to right about 3" in height) is perfectly clear and color is just fine without any distortion that I can see.

Is this a convergence problem too? This TV was never that great and I wish I hadn't purchased it. I'm back to watching my 15 year old Sony which has a better picture and is obviously more reliable.
