T90 won't power up

After six months without batteries my Cannon fails to power up. Connections have been cleaned to no avail. Any ideas? Has a processor failed?

Lens mount fit

None directly. The T90 was the last Canon camera to use the older FD lenses. All newer Canon SLRs, film and digital, use the EF mount. However, by using an adapter such as http://www.rakuten.com/prod/adorama-canon-fd-lens-to-eos-body-adapter-with-correction-glass/216466533.html?listingId=120668308, you can use the old lenses on any Canon digital SLR.

My Maxxum 7000 won't power up with new batteries

Good Afternoon,
it's very possible that you're still having a battery supply issue. When the battery compartment is tipped out to replace the one inside AAA battery you'll notice a small sliding contact it's very easy to overlook. I would suggest cleaning always contacts again using vinegar. Then wash it off completely, dry well and then reattach your batteries and try it again. Remember that the battery box has to be firmly in place and the retainer screw completely screwed in to activate the switch on the side of the camera to allow the camera to function. If you try this and it again fails it's also possible that your particular maxim had a used metering link installed just underneath the battery compartment that metering link can also fail when it does get acts as a crime or refuse and the camera won't function. The last thing I would check would be your primary backup battery which is located under the stainless steel plate that your batteries set up next to on the side of the camera it's held in the position by six screws. This is a 2025 battery and is easily replaceable. Please be sure and check your power supply first as this is 90% of the problems that we see in the shop good luck if you have any other issues feel free to contact me directly at Dave@advancecamera.com

The shutter on my T90 has stopped working..the batteries are good but there's no action when pressing the release button....I don't use it regularly now, is this the cause and if so what can I do about...

Hi, the most common reason is that the shutter curtain release electromagnet needs cleaning, I used to use isopropyl alcohol. Access is behind the front cover - it's just about where your middle fingertip would be when holding the camera in your right hand. There are at least 2 layers of circuit connectors to separate first - easy enough but maybe not if you haven't worked on cameras before. There's someone listing this repair on eBay but not cheaply. Sorry but I retired ten years ago, fingers too stiff now.

I just loaded up my old T90 after 4yrs of non use. All was well, the display showed mode, shutter speed etc then when I took the first shot I got HELP in the viewfinder and the three EEEs on the lcd. I...

Lin & Daniel,
I had the same problem w/ my T90 after years of not using it. But, the T90 is not dubbed the Tank for nothing. The shutter curtains stucked/stacked because of unuse, especially if you hadn't used it for years.
Here's what i've done to revived it:
I set the shutter speed Tv 500 in Low then hit the carpeted floor while pressing the release button.
Try it my friends and let me know.

Canon T90

It kind of depends on what exactly the problem is. If the problem is that the speeds are off, then that can likely be remedied without any new parts. It needs a clean, lube and adjust. If its due to the shutter curtains being worn and they need replacing, then there is a possibility that it uses the same curtain as another Canon model and parts can be had new for that model. Worse comes to worse, a parts body can be used for the repair.

Watch the cost of this stuff though. T90s on the used market are selling pretty cheap, so it might make more sense to buy another used and keep yours for parts.

T90 shutter

Hi Tim, I had the same problem , I took it to get it repaired & was told that it needed a new shutter solinoid , the repair cost £90 5years ago, you are probably looking at around £140+ today. mine has gone again & I am reluctant to spend that sort of money on it again. If you manage to get it repaired & there are periods of time when you wont be useing it take it out periodicly & just run the shutter a few times, it helps to stop it sticking. Good luck with whatever you decide to do . regards dave.preece@ukonline.co.uk
