I assume that you are using 2 hardwired computers. if so, make sure that the cables are connected to the correct ports. the modem should be connected to the wan/internet port of the router and the 2 computers should be connected to the ethernet ports. try to do a power cycle by turning off the all the devices then turn on your modem first, then the router, lastly the computers. if you're getting the same problem, make sure that the router is properly configured according to the settings of your ISP. for example, if your ISP is dsl, you need to set you router to pppoe but if it's cable, you need to clone the mac address of the computer (the one that can access the internet directly to the modem) to the router.

if you're using wireless computers, you need to check if you are using the correct wireless settings to your computer. log in to your router's page to check the wireless settings.

hope this'll help you

ciao!

How do I disconnect belkins from my computer

If you're not using the Belkin anymore, unplug it. Removing power from the device will inhibit it trying to take over your network connection.

I can not get by daughters compute to hook up to my netgear wireless router. My other computers had no problem in getting connected. We have tried everything and can not get it to take the router

Hello
Have you tried going to control panel, network and sharing center.

Once there, make sure all pcs are on the same network, either homgroup or public.

Your daughters needs to be on the same network as the others. Also be sure the firewall is not blocking any connections.

You may also want to reboot the router do this by...
1 shut down all pcs
2 Unplug all cables from router including power.
3 Let router set for a min then plug all cables back in and power up
4 Once you get stedy lights on router restart pcs.

Hook up

Hi Cheryl,

From your cable/dsl modem please take the cable that comes out of it that looks slightly larger than a phone cable and plug it into a port on your NetGear Wireless Router that is labeled either Internet or WAN. After that is done, unplug the power to both your cable/dsl modem and your wireless router. Plug the power back into the cable/dsl modem and wait about 30 seconds then do the same with the wireless router.

Next on your computer, there should be a wireless icon by your clock near the bottom right corner of the screen. If you double on it, you will see a list of connections, yours will say Netgear and should have a good signal strength. Double on it and give it about 10 seconds to connect. Voila, you should be on the Internet.

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

Thanks,
Adam

The netgear router has problems connecting with the intetnet please help me

I have a problem here.

1) When i connected the modem to the computer, it works good.
2) I have more computer now, so i bought a router.
3) This time, when i plug in the modem to router and router to my 3 computers.
4) The local network is working but not the internet.

Any solutions? I have tried trendnet router, netgear. It's definitely not the router problem.
I have tested the same router in other ADSL line, it works.

Question on setting up two computers

Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.

Neatgear wireless router wpn824 v2

Windows, if that's what you're using, may be connecting to a different router than yours. Verify that you're connecting to your access point.

Also, make sure there is a good connection between the router and your cable or dsl modem.

Finally, you can try connecting your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. That will at least let you verify that the computer and router work together, and you can configure the router and so forth. If connecting with a wire succeeds, that narrows the problem down to the wireless network connection.

Here's the manual. Troubleshooting is near the end, but it doesn't look like your specific problem is listed...

Problem with netgear wgr614 v6 daisy chain

I am assuming the Verison was setup and working before this started, if not let me know.

Do you know the address and subnet mask for the lan side of the Verison Actiontec router? assumed like address 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 This means all addresses 192.168.0.? belong to the verison router's subnet.

Assuming the Netgear router is being daisy chained using a lan port from the Verison Router to the WAN port of the Netgear, the WAN side of the Netgear router needs to be either dynamically addressed or statically addressed in the 192.168.0.? uniquely outside the DHCP range for the Verison router.

The LAN side of the Netgear Router must not be addressed the same as the LAN side of the Verison router in this configuration.

There is another potential configuration where lan ports of both routers are connected. however in that configuration there are additional considerations. Please let ne know which connection you are attempting between the two routers.

There is some additional informatin you can gather

Assuning you have windows XP for the operating system on your computers hook a computer wired if possible to the LAN side of each router and issue the following commands

Click Start then All Programs then Accessories then Command Prompt in the new window that opens type the following command and press enter

ipconfig

write down th IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway for each adapter

Then issue the following command once for each default gateway not = 0.0.0.0 where {...} is replaced in its entirety with the default gateway.

pring {default gateway address no {}}

the expected responses will be either 4 timeouts or 4 lines with elapsed times. Timeout is failure -- elapsed times means it was connected.

For each router I need to know the default gateway and the subnet mask for the successful pair. Plese reply ina comment to this problem and additional steps will be forthcomming.
