SOURCE: ed25rfxfw01 whirlpool fridge water dispenser ...I have a slow drip from the dispenser hose. I assume I need a new water inlet valve. How do I access the inlet valve for replacing?

It should be on the right hand side in the back take off the compressor cover on the back should be 8 or so 1/4 screws nutdriver type and then two more hold on the water valve. If you have a RO system hooked up to refrig you may need to change the filters on the ro or just change the filter on the refrig. those two will also cause the water to drip thru the valve allowing it to drip on the front

SOURCE: ge profile refrigerator slow water dispenser

you have a seperate valve for ice maker and water dispenser, though it is possible both could have debris preventing proper water flow, i would check the water pressure you have going into the valve solenoid housing. turn off water to fridge, disconnect the line at the fridge, not in basement at saddle valve. place end of tube in bucket, turn on water. how is pressure? good or slow? if its good, then you probably do need to replace valve solenoid housing. You can NOT clear debris out of these, they must be replaced.
If your water pressure is still not good, either y ou have a kink in plastic water line. Despite having changed saddle valve in basement, if the stem of saddle valve is mounted on bottom half of pipe, debris from pipe is getting into water line and so on. Either the harvest temperature thermistor is bad or the inlet water valve is plugged or malfunctioning. More than likely, it is the inlet water valve assembly.

Water won't come out of dispenser. ice works fine

Your refrigerator is equipped with a dual water inlet solenoid valve assembly . It is likely that the solenoid valve that controls flow to the water dispenser is faulty. Click here for a tutorial on How to Test Inlet Valve.

No water/ice

HI. First, you will need to rule out any standard issues that will cause this. Check the internal, and external feed lines for any obstructions. Make sure that the internal lines are not frozen, or kinked. If the lines check out ok, move on to the water filter(if equipped).

In most units, there will be a filter, present. These devices are set to operate on a particular time frame. If their filtering limit is met, the filter will stop filtering water, thus, not allowing the fluid to flow, at all. Make sure that the filter is up to date. If you have verified that the filter is ok, move on to the water inlet valve assembly.

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source (typically under the sink). Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place.

The water inlet valve is connected by two wires. Label the wire placement on the water inlet valve before disconnecting the wires. The wires are connected to the terminals with slip on connectors

Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If the connectors are corroded they should be replaced.

Inspect the filter screen where the supply line connects. Remove any debris or deposits that may have built up using a toothbrush, or warm running water. If you cannot clear the clog, it will be necessary to replace the valve (the filter is not removable on most inlet valves).

Test the water inlet valve for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X100 (if available, otherwise use the nearest ohm setting). Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should display a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. Close inspection of the inlet valve and especially the coil may reveal the exact ohm resistance rating to test for. If the water inlet valve does not pass this test, it should be replaced.

The icemaker isn't working. The water line is hooked up and working fine when I want to get water, but the line isn't feeding water to the icemaker in the freezer.

HI. testing is needed at this time. There are some issues that concern the operational value of the inlet assembly. check the lines to make sure that they are not frozen. If the line that feeds the ice-maker is ok, and not frozen, proceed with the testing of the inlet assembly.

Defrosting the fridge completely will fix the problem.

Inlet valve at the back of the fridge faulty or blocked.
Replace or unclog main water inlet valve.

Water valve or solenoid in water dispenser assembly faulty.
Replace or fix water valve or solenoid located in water dispenser assembly.

Icemaker won't fill tray,

Was the inlet tube frozen. If so your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking and when the water reaches the freezer it freezes, blocking the inlet tube. Replace the water inlet valve.
You can Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

My 7 year old Kenmore refrigerator is not dispensing water and ice.

HI. there are only two reasons for this type of issue. One would be a frozen water supply line and reservoir, and the second reason will be a faulty inlet valve assembly. IF you are certain that the lines are not frozen, i recommend replacing the inlet valve assembly asap.

Use this procedure below to test the valve.
