Question about Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera

Open Question

Canon powershot sx130 lens will not open

I turn on the camera and a small green light continues to blink on the back. The lens will not 'extract' from the camera, or come out. eventually I get the lens error message on the screen.

The following blog outlines some simple repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try:

SOURCE: Lost my Canon PowerShot A560 disk

As a solution I highly recommend that you forego the old cable to the camera route, and instead consider a card reader to download your photos to your computer. Card readers are very inexpensive, much much faster downloading photos from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.

You place the camera's card in the reader, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For all of these reasons, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. Really, you'll save yourself a lot of headache. Here are some examples from Amazon. Also, don't be fooled by the cost. some of the cheap ones work just fine. Go by the reviews. Also make sure you get a reader that is stated capable of reading your card (particularly if you have an SDHC card):

For international readers, here's another source for card readers (free international shipping too :-)

SOURCE: lens error, restart camera canon powershot

The best thing to do is to first try restarting the camera. Do not push or pull on the lens as this will often cause other issues. Do not blow air in the lens as this generally moves any dirt or dust to the back and it sits on your imaging sensor, you'll end up with poor photos after that. The best thing to do is to have it serviced so it is fixed correctly and working the way it should be. The site that is great for the Powershot Models is: www.CamerasAndParts.com They only specialize in these Powershots and they have your exact lens error problem right on the site. Try them for help. They tend to be the best deal plus they're service is wonderful. You'll pay $89 for the repair, all of the service for that model and the return shipping back to you included with them. They'd be the place for help with this one, best of luck.

This is a fixed lens camera, you cannot change lenses. If there is some problem with the camera's lens the best advice I can give you is to take it to a camera shop for repair.

Raise the flash, try to take flash picture, no flash. The lightning bolt symbol blinks, but no flash.

With the SX130 I've seen that before, it seems to be caused by the bulb burning out. Your best bet will be to contact Canon.

I have a Canon Powershot SX130 IS and there is dirt behind the first piece of glass in the lens , anyway to clean it?

You shouldn't try to clean this yourself, find a camera shop that does repair or contact Canon, they will direct you to one in your area.

But before anything you better make sure the dust has any impact on the pictures.

this happens due to some sand particles getting stuck in lens assembly. give a small **** to the camera so that it gets released.

I need to set the resolution to no more than 10 mb in my canon Powershot sx130 IS. How do I do this?

A resolution of 10mb, even if you could set it that small, would look worse than a crayon drawing by a 3-year old.
