Question about Dryers
This baby has been working fine since 2000 purchase, then one day when pressing start, it just beeps at me... taken apart and ran thru the button checking cycle.... all is well except for the start..... do I need a new circut board or can it be fixed by a somewhat talented laundry lady??
You may have a defective door latch switch as well. This is the push button switch located inside the door frame. It toggles (pushes in) when the door is closed, shuts the drum light off, and enables the circuitry to allows the drive motor to work. If this button is not making contact properly, the dryer will just beep when you attempt to start it. I mention this just in case you may have overlooked it.
However, if you have determined that you defintely have a bad start switch on the operator console, the switches are generally not sold as a separate part. Most of the push button type consoles for the Kenmore Elites have a keypad as part of an operator interface board inside the front panel. You will need to replace the interface board in order to correct the problem as these boards generally are not serviceable. If you post back with your COMPLETE model number, I can look up the part information for you. I hope this helps.
