Check the KLIXON switches. When the dryer overheats the KLIXON switches will Open to shut unit down. generally they are round ,nickle to quarter size with 2 wires attached. some have mechanical reset buttons. Make sure unit is unplugged before you try to work on it. if you have an Ohmmeter measure across the two terminals. if meter shows just a few ohms then switch is working if hi ohms or Infinate tthen switch is bas or needs to be replaced. Check for Lint build up in your dryer vents and in machine ducting.

Why unit will not run

Good Morning Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAZ12HS2A, will not turn on. Please start by cleaning the filter. You can do this easily with the following instructions:

The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is necessary. Trapped particles in the filter can build up and cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.

1)Push the vent handle to the Vent Closed position (where applicable).
    2)Open the front panel.
3)Grasp the filter by the center and pull up and out.
4)Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing
5)Or instead of washing, you may vacuum the filter clean.

Also, be sure your air conditioner is properly grounded. To minimize shock and fire hazards, proper grounding is important. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for protection against shock hazards. Your air conditioner must be used in a properly grounded wall receptacle. If the wall receptacle you intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a time delay fuse or circuit breaker, have a qualified electrician install the proper receptacle. Do not run your air conditioner without outside protective cover in place. This could result in mechanical damage within your air conditioner. Do not use an extension cord or an adapter plug.

The power supply cord contains a current device that senses damage to the power cord. To test
your power supply cord do the following:

      1)Plug in your Air Conditioner.
2)The power supply cord will have TWO buttons on the plug head. Press the TEST button. You will notice a click as the RESET button pops out.
3)Press the RESET button. Again you will notice a click as the button engages.
4)The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit. 4)

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

      -Best Regards-

Will not start. HDD power light comes on for about 5 seconds, then goes out. I put it on standby, started again, and put back on standby, has not come on since.

It could be a faulty battery. Remove the battery & try to power up the laptop.
If the laptop did not power up after removing the battery, then notice the power receptacle where you plug the power adapter's cord to the laptop. While plugging the power cord in, notice if there is a spark occurring at the power receptacle. If the spark occurs, then disconnect internal drives & connectors one at a time until subsystem with short is identified. If power input still a short with bare motherboard, replace the motherboard. If the spark did not occur, then inspect the boards for burnt or melted components, cold solder on DC jack, open connections, or unseated cards.

Kenmore 64112 dryer wont start when I hit the start button

Check house fuses or circuit breaker.
Pull 220V cord from wall outlet and inspect the gold prongs.
If you see any burnt areas on the prongs the outlet is bad.

If the unit makes no noise when you press the start button check the dryer door switch and make sure it clicks when depressed.
Sometimes the door switch arm can break off so when the door closes
the door switch cannot be activated.

If you hear a growl noise when you press the start button 2 things...
1. The motor is bad and needs replacing.
2. An object fell down the lint trap and is preventing the motor from turning.

Also if the dryer vent has been plugged causing the dryer to over heat a saftey fuse may have blown and needs replacement.

Lg troom dle 3777w dryer does not turn on!!!

Sounds like you have 110 volts going to the dryer, you need 220 volts for a dryer to operate normally, check for propper voltage at the back of the dryer where the power cord connects to the terminal block, then if all is good there check at the receptacle on the wall that the dryer is plugged into for correct voltage there, look for bad wire connections, or burnt wire connections or obvious signs that don't appear normal, also don't forget to double check your circuit breaker at your homes electric supply panel. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

My dryer sparks when i push the start button.

Hello www_jaymepri,
The fact that you can see one of the wires is burnt suggests ( that it is a wire on the power cord). If that is not true, please elaborate on exactly which wire you saw that was burnt. I am assuming it is the power cord and will walk you thru changing it. First off, you need to unplug that cord from teh power receptacle. If there is any question regarding the insulation on the dryer power cord, I would encourage you to remve or disable power to the receptacle in your circuit breaker box. Once power has been disabled, unplug the dryer cord from the receptacle. Make note of the plug end and determine it is a 3 prong or 4 prong configuration. If unsure, cut that cord off the dryer and bring it with you when you get a replacement. Most home good departement stores liek Home Depot or Lowes sell replacement power cords for this very purpose. Once you get a replacement cord, slide the dryer away from the wall so that you have ample rooom to get to the back of it.
Note where the existing ( original ) cord penetrates thru the back of the dryer cabinet ( normally thru a pass thru with a cable clamp). Loosen the cable clamp screws to free the cord up and also remove the access cover near it so that you can see where it is wired in. With the cover removed, you should see a terminal block where the power cord lugs are connected. Make note of the colors associated with these connections. They are normally red, white, black and/or green. The red and black lines are the actual supply line ( power) and are commonly terminated on either side of the neutral line ( normally a white line). The green wire is normally the ground connection and is tied to the dryer frame someplace. The ground wire termination varies from mfr to mfr and model to model but the end result is that it is bonded to the frame of the dryer. So, when installing the replacement cord, pass it thru the cable clamp and over to the terminal block. Then install one wire at a time and based on the colored ends to match what you presently have. Make sure you tighten the screws that hold the wire lugs snuggly .. Loose connections here, have been known to cause resistive junctions and get hot enough to cause fires so make sure these screws are tight. Then, tighten the cable clamp so that it locks the cord in place and doesn't slide freely inside that clamp.
When all wires have been installed, plug in the cord to the receptacle and switch on the circuit breaker. Before positioning the dryer back against the wall, try running it for a minute or two without any clothes in it to make sure it operates correctly ( heats up and the drum rotates) The exhaust from electric dryers ( albeit, not healthy) can be vented into a room for a minute or two while you test things. Gas dryers should not be allowed to vent into a room. Hopefully this will resolve your problem. Feel free to send me a follow up notice if you are experiencing another problem not associated with the cord.
Regards,
Rick

Dryer does not turn on

Sounds like the motor relay is not functioning. Sometimes the motor will work if the button is pushed but will stop when the button is released. This is caused by a loose wire at the motor or a bad motor relay.

My dryer doesn't run

If the dryer doesn't start or make any noise: 1) Be sure it is plugged in and turned on. If necessary, check the receptacle it's plugged into for power, using a working lamp, appliance, or voltage tester. Be aware that most electric dryers don?t plug into standard 120-volt receptacles?they operate on 240 volts. Make sure the door is closed completely, the timer is advanced to the proper position, and the correct cycle is selected. 2) If the receptacle is dead, check the circuit breaker or fuse that serves that circuit. 3) Unplug the dryer and check the power cord and the terminal block. If necessary, replace the cord. 4) Open the door and check the door switch. Press and release it: it should click each time. If it doesn't, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repair service. 5) If the dryer still doesn't work, a thermal fuse or other electrical or electronic parts may be faulty. Call a service person.
