Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

Windows telling me to plug ethernet in

I am unable to connect my new build to the internet. The driver is showing up under Device manager and is enabled in Bios. The ethernet cable I am using is verified good and the lights on the port on the mobo are flashing. The router is verified good and it does not work coming from the modem either. I have tried updating to latest LAN driver also but still nothing. I am using Windows 7 Home 64 bit OEM.

I tried the steps in Control Panel and Device Manager did not work. I tried flashing Bios with newest version from Asus website and nothing. The modem shows the port being used by the PC is communicating and the port's LEDs are blinking and NOTHING!

    Someone please help me!!

The driver should be on the motherboard disc or the one supplied by your ISP internet service supplier

click start control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll to network adapters could see a yellow question mark? right click install drivers

My acer 4310 connects fast to wi-fi pero pag internet cable na as in ung dsl hindi gumagana

Hi there,

When you plugged in the ethernet cable, does it show on your windows tray (lower right corner of the screen) that the LAN is connected? It should show you "Connected" if you hover your mouse on the LAN icon.

Try also to plug in the ethernet cable to a different port on the router, and that the port number on the router is showing a solid green led light.

If all has been observed and still you cannot connect, look if the network adapter for your lan is working. RIGHT click your My Computer or "Computer" and select Manage. The Computer Management window will open. Click on the Device Manager on the left to show the list of devices on the right. Look for Network Adapters and click the + sign. See if your LAN adapter is not showing any yellow exclamation point. Also, right click on it and select Properties. You should see the device is working properly under status.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

I found I needed a USB/Ethernet adaptor in order to connect my new broadband and purchased an ASIX AX88772A vai your product A31GY from Maplins. I'm having trouble in that the Broadband set up refuses to...

I allowed Windows Update to search for the right driver. This took a long time - I'd tried earlier but evidently hadn't let it run for long enough. It located and loaded a driver and everything was then fine: the ethernet connection (via adaptor) 'went live', my new broadband set-up software recognised it and proceeded sussessfully from there.

I assume that the device manager on my PC was correctly identifying corrupt drivers on the small CD supplied with the adaptor and that I'd managed to find uncorrupted ones on the internet via Windows Update.

any chance the problem is with your cable?  if the device manager has the device listed and the driver is up to date (or even not showing problems)...
sorry for the obvious, but it has to be checked.  good luck.

Ethernet Drivers (slow internet access)?

the fastest speed is the slowest path on the network.
right click on the my network place.
right click on the NIC local connection
click on configuration at the right of the connect using (NIC)
second tab, "advanced" check the speed & duplex- it should be auto, but you can change it. do not recommend it.
check resources- make sure it has no conflect with any other device.
if that doesn't help. uninstall the NIC driver and try to find a older driver. Sometime that works better, don't ask me, but it works.

I had to reinstall windows xp. Now I cannot connect to the internet.

Make sure the driver of the Ethernet Card on your computer is installed. You check it under Device Manager

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters (click the +). If you see Other Devices with yellow exclamations like Ethernet Controller, that's it. You need to run the Motherboard CD to automatically install the ethernet driver.
