If this is the base grille filter that normally comes out with a twist -- Jam a 10" long #3 phillips screwdriver down where the filter end is. Get it right into the end and tap it softly with a rubber mallet to get the phillips bit to "bite".

Now twist left 1/4 turn and pull.

I have replaced my ice maker filter. Now when the ice maker comes on or we press tab for water, the box where the filter cartridge pushes in leaks water through 2 holes in top of refrigerator side.

either the filter isn't in correctly or when you changed it out you broke the filter holder.take out the filter and try reinstalling it,also look at the filter to see if it's damaged or try putting the old filter back in,if it leaks with both filters then i'd have to say the filter holder is broke,if it only leaks with the new filter then you could have a defective filter.try reinstalling it.good luck.

How do I replace the water filter? No owner's manual is available

The water filter cover is the round thing you see in the toe grille beneath the freezer. It will have a handle that should be horizontal. To remove the filter, turn the handle counterclockwise 1/4 turn, then pull it out. If you have trouble, try removing the toe grille so you can get better access to it. Once you have it out, be sure to take the handle off the old filter and on to the new filter. Be sure to remove the red cap on the pointy end of the filter, then stick the filter back where the old one was. Be sure to push firmly when you turn the filter clockwise 1/4 turn. After you have the filter installed, be sure to take a big glass and run the water for a few minutes.

I side by side refrigerator and I just replaced my water filter. No water will come out now. What do I need to do?

Turn off the water to the filter. Disconnect the water line from the filter to the refrigerator, at the refrigerator. Point the tubing into a bucket and turn the water on. If you're getting water there, you may have a plugged or defective solenoid. Make sure the wires are connected to the solenoid firmly. If the solenoid has a inlet screen, check it for sediment or water filter debris. If necessary, replace the valve.
If there is no water flow at the tubing to the fridge, shut the valve and remove the tubing from the filter to the fridge, at the filter. Inspect the inside of the filter for packing, ostructions, etc. Try again for water. If you get water there, clear or replace your tubing. If no water, close the valve and remove the tubing at the filter that comes from the wall. Check that end of the filter also for pluggage. Test the water line up to the filter. If you get water now, the filter is plugged or defective. Check the flow direction arrow on the filter, if it has one. Some filters have one-way valves. If no water, close the valve again and remove the tubing connection at the valve. Try again.. If you get water now, the tubing to the filter is plugged. If you don't, it'll be the valve or another plumbing issue. If you are getting water everywhere else, replae the valve. You may have to shut off the water to your house and depressure the lines to get at it.
Good luck. Hope this was useful!

Filter broke off in the holder

I have recently had to remove one that the end cap had broken off but I don't think you will be able to get this one out. You will need to replace the filter housing. It's not hard to do. You just need to get the part, pull the 2 screws holding it in along with the wire off to the left side, remove the water hoses and install the new housing.

When trying to remove my water filter from my whirlpool fridge, the screw end that fits into the fridge broke off. How can I get through the "tube" to remove that piece so I can put in a new...

Purchase a screw extractor the right size. It's like a reverse fluted drill bit. Use an appropriate extension and a reversable drill. Or.. find or cut a round piece of rubber in a cone shape of the right size to insert and grab the broken piece to spin it out CCW.
