Question about Microwave Ovens
I have a Samsung MO1450WA Microwave that all of a sudden stopped working. The instrument panel works as does the light and turntable. There seems to be a louder hum when it's running and a slight over heating electronic smell.
It's the over the range version which was more expensive than the countertop version and I guess I would like to repair it myself rather than just throw it out, it's approximately five years old. Does this sound like something I can repair myself or should I just get a new one? Where do I start? Thanks, JB
It's probably a shorted high voltage rectifier diode or magnetron.
At our site, we have a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:
http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html (if it is NOT shorted, it's probably fine)
You can order Samsung parts here.
