Question about Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machines

Open Question

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer unbalanced

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and it becomes unbalanced on every load during spin cycle no matter the size (even one item) or type. I've tried shifting everything around, even just running the last 10 minutes on "Drain & Spin" on low speed to try to resolve with no luck. I've read online a service pointer that says the circuit board may have to be replaced, but I've also read that the suspension springs might need to be replaced. I took it apart based on other input I've read and looked at the suspension springs which show no sign of any problem. I even took them to the local Sears parts outlet to see if he thought they could be the problem. He couldn't really help. Please help. This is driving me crazy and I can't afford a new washer.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool washer won't agitate or spin . But it does drain the water.

i also had the same problem, and it ended up being the coupler. It was not hard to replace, it cost me about 19.00. I didn't follow full recomende instructions. I tipped the washer backwards. Removed the drain pump and the motor itself. Then I removed the old coupling and placed the new one. The washer is working like new...

it has a bad balance ring on the top of the basket no so hard but not that easy either
you have to remove the case to get to the balance ring
go to www.sears.com and go to parts and put in the full model number, under the parts tab in appliances and select view brakedown and it will explain it better with you seeing it

SOURCE: 1 1/2 year old lg WM2496H showed oe error code

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

SOURCE: I have the HE2 model

This is likely an electronic glitch as no problem is detected during the diagnostic. Unplug the machine for at least 30 minutes to forcibly reset the control. The longer the machine is unplugged, the better. If the machine still behaves the same after this, the problem is likely the motor control unit (MCU) located at the base of the machine. It has been found that a malfunctioning MCU can lead to an erratic operation of the central control unit (CCU) and it may give codes or signals that cannot be found in any troubleshooting literature. The MCU is probably sending false signals to the CCU that is triggering a premature completion of the cycle. There's nothing we can do about this problem as of the moment if the problem is not rectified by unplugging the machine. Brace yourself for a total breakdown of the MCU in the near future.

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

My whirlpool duet washer hammers very loud when it spins. The outside of the machine doesn't seem to vibrate much but it is very loud.

That is a common occurrence with dryers such as this one. Even though it sounds bad, it is harmless. If it really bothers, you can re-balance the load and it should reduce the vibration.

When the washer displays uL when spinning?

'Unbalanced Load' occurs when the machine detects that one side of the tub is heavier than the other.
This most often happens when heavy and/or large items become pushed to one side of the tub during the wash and become much heavier when the spin cycle engages.
This is more often seen in 'tub' style machines rather than front loaders.
Usually the machine has a safety system which shuts down the spin cycle and 'buzzes' to alert you to reach in and move things around in order to rebalance the load.

Whirlpool washing machine make loud noise after spin cycle quits. Noise continues until cycle winds down. Sounds like a machine gun being fired

Hello, have to tell you that most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping noise during the spin, the load of cloth may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the cloths, then restart the machine. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Thanks
