Red ring is not the only problem with Microsoft X-box 360. This amazing device also has some more common problems like Audio but no video problem, disc read error etc. Microsoft is providing extended warranty only for red ring problem. Means you will have to spend some money to get this problem repaired also if you plan to send your xbox to Microsoft, you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get back your favourite Xbox. There is one more option in the form of DIY guide, this guide explains solving No Video Just audio problem with step by step instruction, so any novice can fix this problem

Mine did this too. I sent it back to MS for repair and they replaced the Motherboard and dvd drive. Console is only 5 months old.

If your Xbox 360 does not have display you need to stop the heat getting to the chips. You can actually do this yourself as many have in this forum using the recommended Xbox 360 Repair guide.

Basically the guide will show you how to stop the heat build up with videos and household items, of course if you are in doubt send it in.

It has a preview video on the website.

Or of course you can send it in to have it fixed.

If you have the original X box CD's it will work fine expect when you have issues with region code.PAL NTSC are the two format a game can work with.so if you have NTSC formated game TRY a PAL version.it may work.
else clean your lens and try inserting a new CD of that GAME.

No video out. It worked fine fir a year plus and suddenly stopped showing video. Audio is fine.

This could be a very simple problem. On the a/v cord jack, look on the part that gets plugged into the x-box. There is a switch that allows you to change from HD to standard format. I had this problem when I took my x-box to my brothers and he hooked it up to an HDTV. All you have to do is set the switch back to standard (or HD).

Sounds like your 'Box is on its way for an E74 Scaler Chip error mate.

Send Back to M$ if you can if you are out of warranty you could always apply a heat gun to the HANA chip to Reflow its Solder joints.

those are the red rings of death means that your xbox either overheated or malfunctioned. Now this might sound crazy but wrap the 360 in dry towels and keep the 360 on for 20 mins with the towel then unplugg it then let it sit then turn it on if its still like that send it to microsoft to get it fixed.

i've had the same issue today. I am guessing that the av port from your 360 might not be working. You might have to open it up and replace it. IDK

Xbox 360 audio video problem

has it been flashed with xtreme firmware?

check the scart cable and make sure the switch is on the right setting (tv/hd)

when it was working did you put a game in and was you asked to update? if so you could have got a bad update.

if you have a hard drive detach it and then try turning it on.

if none of these work write a reply in this section and i'll get back to you.

please rate my solution and how it helped you

Xbox 360 controller for windows

I also registered to post the solution. This is actually a very easy fix.

Goto > Start > Control Panel
Open > Sounds and Audio Devices
Goto > "Audio" Tab
Change > "Default Device" back to your sound card rather than the x-box controller.
Press > "OK"

When you plug in the x-box controller it makes itself the default audio playback because it has a headphone jack on it.
