SOURCE: cant remove steering wheel from john deere rx 95

At the bottom of the steering wheel you should see a screw that goes crossways through the steering wheel and shaft. It will have a nut on one side and a phillips head on the other. Do not try to unscrew this bolt! Use a punch and tap it out from the nut side being careful not to damage the end of it. It is serated and will not turn with a phillips screwdriver. Once this is removed the steering wheel should just pull off. If it doesn't, post your model/serial number and I will check to see why.

SOURCE: John Deere 445 Garden Tractor, starts immediately,

could be bad gas, but it sounds like a choke problem. did it sit over the winter with less than a half tank of gas in it. try putting some rubbing alcohol in the fuel or draining the tank and disconnecting the gas line so you can drain the gas out of the carb. also check the gap of the spark plug and make sure that is correct. when was the last time there was fresh oil put in. also check the air filter, it could be full of dirt.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the ideas. I will try your suggestions. Tractor used for snow blowing during the winter and gas did not stay in it long. Good ideas!"
