Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Sherwood RD8108R no sub-woofer

Hi. Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I can not get my sub to work (cables and speakers test fine so it must be in the set-up on the receiver). I have been through the manual trying to work out where I might have gone wrong but still can't work it out. Gale Sub5 is powered up and connected (via left channel) to the Pre-out Sub output on the RD8108-R and sub-woofer is swtiched on via the speaker set-up menu (fronts are set to small). I can't even get a tone through it on the T-Test, so absolutely flummoxed. The set-up used to work in a previous location but since I moved it, nothing. All the other channels are fine. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks

SOURCE: Connecting DVD player to AV receiver

If you've done that already and still no response from your system, I would suggest to take back to the place where you bought it and ask them to check it for you. Tell them that you follow the user's manual to the "T" but still unable to make it work.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: How to switch on Sub?

surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.

How it can be connected to a stereo amp

hi,
if ur amplifier have a pre out, then u can connect that to ur L/R input of ur sub woofer.

if not the only way is, connect ur amplifiers speaker output to sub woofers speaker input and then connect ur speaker to sub woofer speaker output terminal. remember don't inter change positive and negative wires.

if ur amplifier have speaker A,B connection then it is very easy. connect the speaker A to ur left and right speaker. then connect speaker B to ur sub woofer's left and right speaker input. be sure to make that speaker A and B switch is in on position. the power on both and check it. ( use good quality speaker cable to connect the sub woofer)

your sub woofer is designed to work , both at low level and high level input.
ok

check the cable for you sub woofer. If problem exists. Try another cable to verify. What kind of subwoofers are you using? Are you going through the LFE port or are you running speaker wires through the speaker inputs on the sub?

I don't have the manual, but if YOU do, crack it open and find the part where you tell the receiver it HAS a subwoofer and any other settings that direct bass toward it.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

RD-6108

Your sub woofer needs to have it's own power amp i.e. a "powered" sub woofer:

Assuming your sub woofer is powered & connect as shown then check the following setting:

No sound out of woofer

Hello sparkie102
Happy Holidays
you have to check if all the cables are well connected, and in the right inputs. 2) check your software for sound that is enable, fine.
turn up the sub volume , if got it independent.
other that this, is a failure sub. if got warranty, use it! or RMS your sub.
