Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators

Exterior Moisture Whirlpool Refrigerator: Model ED5FHEXVS00 My new whirlpool refrigerator is sweating on the face of the freezer door, the edge of the freezer door where it meets the refrigerator door, and on the freezer side panel. The ice-cube and water dispensers are also dripping. What could be the cause?

I tried that already and both doors are closing properly. The moisture/sweating is on the outside of the unit. The inside seems fine to me.

I removed a piece of cardboard that was attached to the bottow rear of the unit where the electrical connections and the cooling fan are located. Could this have affected the flow of hot air around the unit and caused the problem?

Sounds like you have warm air getting into the machine, id check to make sure the doors are closing tightly around all sides with no gaps

would only affect the cooling if the fan in that lower compoartment was not operating correctly.you say new? under a year your still covered.sounds as if there might be a void in the insulation within the freezer door panel itself( read your original complaint closer ) on the face of the door seems cold air is penetrating through to the outer skin.if over a year ld i would call manuf. to send out auth servicer to inspect that one

The door seals on the refrigerator door are hot. What is wrong with it. It is a whirlpool side by side.

Ok
Most refrigerators have resistance heaters around the door seals to keep down condensate and "sweating "during the summer. Check your model to see if there is a manual moisture control switch inside. You would then be able to turn them off in winter. If there is no switch, then the fridge automatically sets the heaters and you're good to go.

hope this helped

The molding inside each door is very warm, the outside of the refrigerator is cool. I have a side-by side whirlpool, model ED22PQ. The center strip inside is very warm as well.

That is what is known as "Anti-Sweat" heaters to prevent moisture accumulating on the doors.
Usually there is a switch labeled "Energy Saver" which allows you to turn them off.

Why wouldthe center piece between freezer & refrigerator get hot

There is a heater located behind that strip known as the mullion heater.
Look to see if you have a switch labeled "anti-sweat"

Refrigerator is sweating filling drain pan

A leaky door gasket will allow excess moisture in and it will condense on the cold surfaces and can also cause excess frost on the evaporator coil causing more water to go into the drain pan.
A good gasket will hold a dollar bill securely all away around the door.

GC5SHEXNQ02 Whirlpool 2door ref - Panel gets hot

I am not going to say the problem is normal. Normal operation those strips are placed behind the metal and inside the walls around the door seals to prevent moisture or sweating around the doors. They are usually noticed to become hot when there is a change in the control boards operation. Some brands have the hot gas from the condenser circulating around the doors. If your model has an economy switch, switch it on. I would look for any abnormal operation of the refrigerator like compressor or condenser fan stopping or ice buildup or abnormal temperatures in the fresh food compartment. If this continues I would unplug the refrigerator and open the control panel inside the fresh food section and examine both sides of the control board for signs of heat or burn marks on both sides. May not be anything to be concerned about also because this may be the first time you noticed this. But it should not be too hot to touch. Sea Breeze

On a Designer Style top freezer fridge, what is the switch for Power Saving? It says, less power, or otherwise less moisture (red light on).

the power saver switch is used to activate a low wattage heater in the center rail between the freezer and refrig door to prevent moisture build in hot humid locations. if you live in a dry arid location then using it on pwer saver will save you some money on your power bill. if it sweats between the doors then the switch needs to be set to  reduce moisture to prevent mold and mildew build up on the seals and the water dripping on the floor. thanks Peyton

Repainting doors on whirlpool white refrigerator

oowwwww!!! thats what we call in the refrig biz "refrig cancer" the door itself is actually rusting from the inside out. the older refrigs used fiberglass insulation inside the doors which has a tendency to hold moisture, and overthe years rusts through. the new door use blown-in poly styrene foam far less likey to hold moisture. That being said you could remove the door lightly sand and paint, can of krylon enamal aint should do it, at least for a little while anyway

Whirlpool conquest 2001 GS6SHAXKQ01 refrigerator side by side top part is not cooling

the first one sounds like it is slowly leaking freon.
  •  the second Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.
