Hi var-pun, Thanx for your reply,

Yes you are right, It will be her freinds disc that has caused the problem,

The Disc that I have is a Legal copy, I have ran my disc on her computer before,

We both have the Infinity tower and I have the Infinity DVD-ROM recovery disc Version 4.0 which I

got from Microsoft over a year ago, I have told her not to run any thing onto her pc Unless it is a legal copy, Well she will just have to wait untill thursday till I visit her with the disc, Hopefully she will do this in the future, All I can say now is, She is very Lucky that I have this Disc, as Rydd66 has said it is very costly for this Disc, I only have a copy due to my job. Lets say I am one of the lucky one's I got the Disc from Microsoft for free, Due to a problem that they had caused on my computer. they sent me a Legal copy of the Disc to say sorry for the inconvience they caused me.

Hopefully she will learn by this and stop running any copy's of things.

    Thanx for your reply van-pan.

Then the copy that she has or her friend has is not a perfect duplication. I know that it may be expensive, but have your sister buy a legal copy of XP Home, otherwise there really isnt much we can help with here, because we dont know what drivers she is missing, so we cant route you to any sites that offer what you need.

Is this a USB connection? Try a different USB port. If it still won't work, go to: MY COMPUTER: PROPERTIES: DEVICE MANAGER. See what it says in there about USB DRIVERS and HARD DISC DRIVERS.

Windows xp home edition reinstall

If you use his disk, that will be better, because if it is original HP disk, it should install all original drivers at all, however this may delete all files on the computer depending on the type of installation you do.

Installing an older version of XP home does not make a big difference , as windows will update the system using automatic updates. What must be done, is ensuring that all proper drivers are installed.

Check device manager, in control panel/system, and see if all devices are installed with proper drivers.
