I have a thin bright white line, horizontal,no picture

Hi. There is no picture but a bright horizontal line, and does not appear to have sound. I put a DVD in my player and I have sound but still a bright thin [1/8th inch],horizontal. This Jensen cost about $ 200.00 new,so comprable sets cost the same....should I "#%* can" it and get a new one? This was built in June 05. Thanx for your help...I think I know the answer. Re: I have a thin bright white line,horizontal,no...

The thin horizontal line is due to Vertical failure. It could be a faulty vertical output IC, or the Power supply to the veretical Output IC could have failed. As for #%@* canning the set, if you know solid state electronics, i suggest you try repairing the set. Otherwise, get a new one.

Tube TV - one thin horizontal line of bright light

Vertical defection failure. Common failure. Pretty easy to repair ($50-75?). However, my general rule of thumb is not to waste any more money on TVs over 10 years old. Too much other stuff in there ready to fail as well.

White horizontal, zig-zagging lines

It sounds to me like you're describing the re-trace of the unit. It is repairable, and more so the sooner you get it to the repair facility.

Tv not working

this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!

Some part of TV has been fused causing no picture on screen , only bright green horizontal lines , not even video channel could be set ,cannot see menu on screen please help by specifying possible...

if the screen is real bright green with thin small white lines in it its probably a shorted picture tube. Or a shorted Green driver Transistor. Good Luck
