You can connect the Camcorder to the Computer using A/V interface to transfer the recordings to Computer.
Once you transfer the recordings from tape to computer, you can use any burning software to burn the recordings to DVDs.
In order to capture the analog videos, you can use the Windows Movie Maker available in the Computer.

Hi,
To transfer your canon data in tape, you need to install driver of canon mini dv in your computer. Then paired your canon with computer trough usb to make data transferring.
To burn a dvd disc you need to install software for dvd burner like Nero S in your computer to edit your AV and burn into DVD disc. Make sure your computer have DVD R/W to do so.
Regards. Jay
Try starting Windows Movie Maker. It will have a import function that will talk to your camcorder attached Firewire. You will need Movie Maker or some other video editing software to import your tapes into your PC.
Sorry this isn't the ultimate solution especially if the disc is full - I'm still trying to retrieve data from a disc that locks up creating thumbnails although it will play on the camcorder to a point. If there is room left on the disc, try recording briefly then press disc navigation button. A couple of times I was able to get past the lockup this way.
I am trying to find out how I can transfer the video footage from my camcorder tapes onto my laptop to then store as DVD's. Is it possible? how can free down load driver frmo website is it also posible?
i took my unit back to electronic express a chain here in tennessee
the guy was baffled at first
then he got a firewire and plugged it into the ilink place on the front of the unit and it copies my old canon recorded tapes just fine
what happened??? who the heck knows --- somehow the chip that prevents the movie copying was reading my old canon recorded tape as copyright -- this somehow bypasses that
if i am not mistaken you can buy attachments to make sure they fit your type of camcorder - my new sony hi def camera came with one - so i had no problem
here is the other kicker --- WHEN I CALLED SONY AND ASKED IF THE ILINK HOOK UP WOULD MAKE THE DUBBING WORK -- THE IDIOT SAID NO he was dead wrong
i will never buy another sony in my life
i stil have not tried to tape movies to dvd and or vhs --- but i already have the machine so i'm stuck with it
what i'd like to know is which combo units do NOT have the blocking chip
