What husqvarna chainsaw model will be compatible for a portable alaskan sawmill?

you will loose 4 inches off bar in the clamp of your Alaskan saw mill ( I have one too and use it to make carving blocks) so your bar will need to be long enough to go thru your log plus those 4 inches , I actually have one special bar/chain that ive drilled all the way thru to mount clamp with so it cant slip , but I will caution you , saws over 19 inches require a heavy hand to operate and will require a bit more strength of the operator , this will tire you out on long cuts , if you stop in middle of log ,there will be a mark there in final cuts that will need to be sanded away , also use long drywall screws with drill to secure your track down , not nails that way it wont move easy to mess up your cut , and last but not least , watch your chain oiler , most don't work too well pointing down , and keep your chain sharpened too makes for less effort from operator

After using anew chaini hit dirt. isharpenit withadifferntanglewillthat make a differencein cutting.

sure will , most saws have different angle cuts to teeth on blade this "angle" needs to be maintained as the "rake" teeth that are behind the cut teeth are set to provide a good way to wipe out cut debris (cut, rake, cut, etc.) this is how chain cuts thru wood , if one changes the cut angle on teeth the rake teeth might not do there job correct and saw bogs and "files" thru wood rather than chips thru wood ,takes longer ,more fuel, more effort , a look at saw cuttings tells the tale , more tiny file sawdust = dull chain --- large Chips and less dust = sharp chain

Makita Angle Grinder not working

check inside for any loose connections plus check the brushes. if like you say it is smoking it could be a trip to the wheelie bin for that one.

When i get about half way through a log my chain begins to smoke as if it is hot i have been round chainsaws enough to no that its not getting oil.. So i pull if from the log and place the tip above the...

Depending on the model, yes. But first I would remove the bar and chain and make sure the 4 or 5 square openings behind the bar for the auto oiler are not clogged with gunk. If everything is clear and the oiler adjustment is turned up as high as possible (15ml/min), you may have a problem with the internal pump.
Also, a chain will smoke if the tension is incorrect. Before you use it again, when cold check the chain tension. You should be able to see about half of the chain drive when pulling on the chain. Another thing may be the sprocket tip if applicable. Make sure it is properly greased each time you add fuel/bar oil.

Chainsaw isn't cutting straight

The odds of a bent a bar approach winning the lottery, while possible it is not likely! ALL the teeth must be of equal and opposite angles. I think a new or professionally sharpened chain will cut true.
Pretty good quick video. There are many that are not worth watching.

By Oregon and very comprehensive. I suggest you read everything that looks remotely connected.

Chain bar in angle cut did not cut as sharp as vertical ???

I think you are saying your saw is cutting in an arch rather than straight through the log.My Pioneer 20" bar started that after many years of good service. I found and removed wire edge on the rear top rail and front bottom rail. A file at 45° removed them and it cuts true once again. HTH

Ryobi 14 inch electric chainsaw won't cut with new chain

Hi Rossmac,

Both the smoke and it's lack of cutting ability are symptoms of the same problem. The Chain is dulled. Instead of cutting, it's just rubbing on the wood and heating up. It's also not a big deal to fix..

Your options are:
  • Replace the Chain
  • Have the Chain sharpened
  • Sharpen it yourself
To sharpen it yourself, you will need a narrow round file that will fit inside the Chain teeth. Each tooth has a two cutting edges, get the file a position that matches the tooths angle of attack. Don't over do, three to five swipes of the file should do it on each surface.

You will see they alternate directions. You may find it easier to do all the teeth in one direction (skipping every other tooth) then do the other direction. Up to you.

When you are done, check the level of your chain oil. Since it did get hot, you might manually oil the chain before trying out your handi-work.

Go cut some wood.
