Amanda, I have a Vivitar Vivicam and I too had the same problem with my camera and PC. What you need to do is go into your controll pannel and "find" your camera. If it does not show, do an Add and remove hardware. You may have to reinstail the camera. I had to a couple of times with mine. It is a pain, I know, but that is part of having to keep up with todays technology. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare CX7430 losses memory when shut off

I had this same problem. I couldn't get my camera to take anymore pictures while using my SD cards. So alls I did was took my cards to walmart, put all my pictures on a cd and then inserted my card again, when it brought up formating I okayed it to delete all the pictures since I already got them put on a disc. Once I did this is worked fine. Your cards can only hold so much depending on the size of your card and if you have to much on it your camera will not read it. Hope this helps you.

Have you thought about buying a "junk" one just to have parts for? Maybe place an add in the paper for one with a busted zoom lense for the screen? Or maybe search for a company that deals in "salvage", kind of like a junk yard for camera's.

My photos show up all mixed up, not in chronological order

Why not download them onto your computer (in a folder of its own) then arrange them yourself. Try this>
  1. right click anywhere inside the folder window
  2. from the pop-up menu, select anyone of the following - depending on your preference. Point to sub-menus 'Sort by' and 'Group by' under Arrange by menu and you can choose Name,Date,Tag etc. Your pictures will be arranged automatically for you.

Ready to cry

same thing happened to me, i carried mine in my pocket. the glass itself doesnt crack but the lcd inside it does. you can still take pictures and videos with it but you have to hook it up to a computer to see them. ive been looking everywhere for the menus to it since i cant see them but i cant find them. everytime i put batteries in it the date resets so it always says 2006 since i cant change it. also, you can look on ebay for a similar model that has a working lcd for like 20 to 30 dollars. its fairly simple to do, but it has to be the same model.

Where do i get a power cord?

first, try the internet...http://www.pricegrabber.com/ and search for your model and then for optional accessories. if no-go, then... remove your car battery, then devise a makeshift 2-wire cable to deliver 12 volts to the proper pins on the back of your monitor. look for polarity markings 12v at 6.5 amps (70 watts) may be hard to find as a "universal" supply. many older pc case supplies (pre-ATX they are free at recycling centers) have the 12V available...just ensure the yellow and black (ground) wires only are used...may also need to ensure that "power ok" signal is set to activate said supply
