Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Would like to add a frequency to a Radio Shack

Absolutely. Just find either an empty channel or one that you want to delete - and program the new frequency. Doing so will not "mess up" any of the other programming.

Programming

No problem!
First if you don't have an owner's manual you can download a copy free HERE

Be sure to read all of it...it's got great info to get you comfortable with all the controls of your scanner.

Secondly you'll need local radio frequencies for your area.
Do a google.com search enter "radio frequencies" and also the name of your city, county and state.
You'll find people may have posted lists of frequencies for your area.

Print out the lists and then by following the step by steps in the owner's manual, enter each frequency into your scanner .

Once you've got them entered... you'll be ready to scan!
For understanding the 10-code language used, do a google search for "10-codes" and you should be able to find a list of definitions... They'll also use alot of local abreviations for street names and locations and those will be understood more as you listen to your local calls for a while.
good luck and have fun...and be safe.

I need to program my realistic police scanner.

for your frequency, go to the local radio shack and ask them to look up the frequency. If you have nothing to fear from your local jurisdiction, go directly to them and ask for the frequency. Programming is the easy part and obtaining the frequency not difficult.

Can't program

Tell me your locale and I'll get you a local frequency chart online. Or if you wish, go to google.com, type in your county and the words "radio frequencies" you should get a list of all the public services as well as TV station radios etc.

Scanners

They all program different ways... What model # and brand? Usually you have to find a memory location, then press a key, the frequency and enter. This again depends on the model/brand.

Help

If you want to give it a try yourself here is a link to a site that has mountains of information to get you going. http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Pro-95/Programming_Shortcut
Also a link to where you can obtain the owners manual: http://support.radioshack.com/manuals/ome20-525.pdf it's free to join Radio Reference (not required though) and you'll be able to search for all the "known" frequencies in your area to program into your scanner. Scanning is a great hobby! Good luck & Happy Trails ........... Jack
