Toshiba Satellite A135-S2376, black screen problem

I was running my Toshiba Satellite A135-S2376 when the screen completely froze. The cursor wouldn't move, and I could not restart the computer with control-alt-delete. I held the power button until it turned off, but when I tried to turn it back on, the green power light would come on, as would the orange light in the CD/DVD drive, but the screen was entirely black, as if the computer weren't active. I tried running the battery out and recharging it, but the same problem continues. I didn't detect any unusual heat or smell before the screen froze. I'm still under warranty if all else fails, but I'd like to resolve this on my own. i have a toshiba a 135 notebook with the black screen, power light and dvd light on steady, i tried the power managemet fix but no help, i stil cant get the thing to fire up to try the fix, toshiba replaced the mother board when this hapened the first time, i guess it needs another mother????? or should i just go get a dell?...........help.......

I've heard a lot about freezing problems on toshiba as well as others like this. Most common issues are one of two things. One is a damaged RAM module. The second is one of the video card chip sets have fried or are slightly overheating causing the laptop to shut down. Most common with Nvidea and ATI Radeon series graphics cards.

My laptop is a Toshiba satellite and after i login a black screen

Hi there. If you've had the laptop under a year, then you can take it back to the place where you bought it, and they can take a look. If anything's wrong, then it can be fixed under the manufacturer's warranty, which is normally for 12 months from purchase.

One thing I'd like to ask, can you see anything behind the black screen? I ask this, as I had a friend who had similar problem, but it was a faint black, with the cursor flashing, and he could faintly see the desktop in the background. I was wondering if this was the same for you.

A135-s2276 wont switch on

Try contacting Toshiba, as it may be some sort of a harware issue with the touch pad or currupted driver, as you said it worked for two years running XP.
Good Luck.

Toshiba A135-S2376 is suddenly asking for password after power on ..... whats the solution

Well good news and bad news.
This is a problem that toshiba has knowledge of.
You cannot do anything to reset the password.
But you can contact toshiba and they will give you an address of a authorized dealer and they should repair it at no cost.
What it is the bios needs to be updated to version 1.40
It fixes that bug.
Happy Holidays

Just bought a Satellite & had same problem. Toshiba Support confirmed the 'Processor Power Management' fix. Within both the Min AND Max Processor State options you should set BOTH the Battery and Power Adapter options to 100%
