Question about Frigidaire FEF336BC Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

GE PROFILE electric oven

Having used the oven to bake earlier in the morning, I switched it off and left the door open so the heat would warm the room. I can't remember if the door was open or closed when I turned off the heat, but I know it was some 30 minutes later that I closed the door. I remember seeing the words "door lock" or "door locked", flash very quickly on the screen.  No light appeared so I thought no more about it until I needed to use the oven again some 3 hours later. The door will not open, I can see through the slot behind the horizontal handle that the lock catch in the lock mode. There is no light on in the screen, nothing. I have tried pushing in the door and holding my finger on the OFF button, but nothing happens. I called the GE help and repair line, switched off the power for 20 minutes. and still no luck.
Hopefully you will have the answer.
Regards, Ann B.

All I had to do was press the clean pad then hold down the off button until the clicking stopped and walla! it opened.
No need to take any panels off, but thanks for offering to help.
I was without an oven for three days.

That was an expensive lesson to learn.

Wife put the oven on clean cycle last night. This morning the heating element will not turn off, a one inch section glows orange. Turned oven off, put it back on clean, broil and off again, no change.

You probably just need a new bake element. Many ranges supply 120 volts to one side of the bake element at all times, switching the other side of the 240 voltage to it (and completing a circuit) when it needs to heat. If the element shorts to ground, the 120 volts can heat though a section of the element to the ground. OK, so much for the technical stuff. Turn power off to range. Replace bake element. Re-connect power. If it works, great. If it heat without turning oven "on" now, that would indicate that the electrical contacts in the bake relay on the control board have welded themselves together, necessitating replacing the control board. Let's hope you are not unlucky enough to have had that happen. (sometimes that happens as the result of an element failure)

Oven with convection - when baking cookies, cakes, etc they aren't getting done. Bottom and middle is soggy. Both coils look to be heating, convection fan is working.

Set the temperature one position higher. Convection ovens have a more even heat spread so if you used to bake at the top of your old oven it will now be slightly lower temperature

GE Profile elec range JSP40 Locked door flashing can't use oven

Replace the oven temperature sensor to solve the F3 problem.
You may need to replace the oven lock micro switch to solve the locking problem.
Change the sensor first. Then try the oven.
