Ive had my lap top for about 3 years now. The original battery has been "dead" for about a year or more. I recently purchased a new battery. The new battery came 75 percent charged and worked fine in my pc. When this battery started to go dead I found out that my pc is not charging it. I have a high suspicion that my original battery was OK, but my pc just wasnt charging it.
I have tried some of the trouble shooting listed on the hp help and support site. I did get the charge light on my pc to come on and blink a few times and that was it. Are there any updates that anyone knows of, or can anyone tell me what the prob might be? My pc works fine on ac power with or without the battery in it.

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

check to see if the battrie is full charge most likely the battrie is dead charge it for two or three hours if it dosent start the battrie is probley bad , clean the battrie termnails or if you have jumper cables jump it if it starts let it run for 20 minutes shut it off and try to start it if it dont start most likely the battery is bad
You probably need to replace your batteries again most batteries in a owc need to be charged 12 hrs a day for the first month at least to build up the capacity if not they will slowly dwindle and wont last long and will need to be replaced
If you have charged the battery many times then after 3 years that could be to 90% your problem. Firstly try to clean the battery contacts and camera contactswith cleaning alcohol or contact cleaner. If that does not help, it is a new battery.
