Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
First off inspect the back of the freezer compartment for any signs of ice or frost build up that is larger than you ever noticed before. IF you notice an abundance of ice / frost perform a 2 hour manual defrost with a fan directed at the freezer compartment. Contents of the freezer removed and the unit un-plugged. Then return the unit fo service. Should there be an automatic defrosting system problem the cooling problems will return in 2 to 4 days depending upon how many times the unit was opened. If you still have the problem after the manual defrost session the next suspect would be a problem with air damper / diffuser PN: RF-2190-01 Since this is a manual control of moving a plastic diffuser to control the amount of air to the fresh food compartment I doubt this is the problem.
I really think you have an automatic defrosting problem (

Defrost themostat PN: RF-7350-63 (not shown)
And the defrost control... not listed or shown. However, you can carry the old part in to most any appliance parts source and get a generic timer that will work. You unit should defrost some where in the following intervals. Once every 6 to 10.35 hours depending on which defrost timer control is installed.
The detached cable your seeing if most likely for an un-installed ice maker water valve. (i.e no ice maker kit installed / nothing to worry about.
Do a manual defrost... and if the unit starts warming up again in 2 - 4 days start troubleshooting the defrost timer, defrost heater and 60 deg bi-metal thermostat.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
