According to the manual a series of 4 beeps indicates a "RAM read/write error". Do you know how many sticks of memory you have in your laptop?

When pressing start on my frigidaire washer LTT2940FE1, It says pause and won't start.

Reset the unit at the household circuit breaker and retry. PAU means the unit is paused either by a blockage and the sensor won't let the unit continue, or it was manually paused by a button press.

My Dell Inspiron 530 won't start. 4 Beeps, Soild blue light.

According to Dell this is a RAM issue. You can find a list of diagnostic Beep Codes here. Also be sure to inspect the capacitors on your motherboard. If you notice any of them leaking or blown then that is your problem.

If you have extra RAM lying around then swap it into your PC and see if you're having the same problem. If not, pull out any unnecessary RAM just to test it. There are four RAM slots on this PC and you should be able to use any one of them. If your PC turns on then you can isolate which chip is giving you problems. Keep in mind RAM is ideally installed in matched pairs.

If you only have one RAM chip in your computer then I'm afraid you will either have to buy another one or borrow one from a friend to test. Shouldn't be too expensive anyway.

Won't start...3 short beeps, pause and continuous repeat

This is a hardware warning, Usually memory modules the way to test that is take one of them out at a time if the beeping stops that is the one that is bad you can do this for all of your hardware parts inside. even DVD or CD burners just remove the power from each one of the hardware suspects. Upon doing this you will find the part that has malfunctioned you will need to replace it. John

My Dell Dimension 5150 won't turn on. it makes a long beep, pause, and 3 long beeps, then pause, then 2 long beeps. what's wrong with it?

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.

make sure that your RAM and Cmos battery are securely seated

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust

a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty
a computer needs all electric current and computer data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly click start right click on my computer so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps you

Power on just get continious two second beeps

sounds like not enough power. have another look at the board, the 4 pin connector should be near the I/O shield near the top of the board, just above or beside the CPU. sometimes it is on the edge of the motherboard (so the plug pins are parallel with the board surface)

Fujitsu Siemens E620 - i915G does not start. Earlier it made continuous restart cycles. After cleaning a lot of dust from inside of the case it does not start any more. Gives different beep-codes. a - 4...

Remove power cable.
Remove the RAM(s) and clean the RAM slots.
Remove VGA card and clean the AGP slot.
If there is dust on RAM(s) or VGA, gently and slowly wipe with a clean cloth.
Re-insert RAM(s) and VGA.
Reconnect power and start the computer.

Let us know the result.

I must congratulate you on cleaning the machine yourself. Some Fujitsu Siemens machines are so difficult to take apart for cleaning.

Computer will not start

It all depends how many beeps there were.
From http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12253_div/12253_div.HTML
Diagnostic LED Explanation Table Number of 1-second red LED blinks followed by 2-second pause, then repeats:
2-processor thermal protection activated
3-processor not installed
4-power supply failure
5-memory error
6-video error
7-PCA failure (ROM detected failure prior to video)
8-invalid ROM, bootblock recover mode

I have only really come across 4 beeps = order new Power Supply or 5 Beeps = reseat the memory and hope it works

Regards,

Oli
