Apparently all of my orginial post did not come through ... I have a convergance issue. I figured out (I think) what parts to replace and ordered them. I labeled everything before I took it apart but some how some of my marks came off and I'm not 100% sure what goes where now. I did my best and hooked it back up, but now I have NO picture at all and it smelled like something was burning. Great. So it's unplugged again and I'm guessing a wiring schematic is what I need now?

So what do I do now? I've never used this service before ... if i click on accept your solution then it means my problem has been solved right? So if it's not solved, then I'd have to pay to write back in?

And if I don't click on ask other experts ... then does the problem just stay in your queue or can another expert still chime in?

  • Michelle888 Oct 26, 2008

Thanks but the link provided does not address my issue. That picture is for how to hook up components to the set ... I need a wiring schematic for the actual inside of the set ... where all the parts are that I've replaced.

My TV is a Philips 60PP9202/17F. I am looking for an INSIDE wiring diagram schematic. I have a convergance issue. I figured out (I think) what parts to replace and ordered them. I labeled all wires/connectors before I took it apart but some how some of my marks came off and I'm not 100% sure what goes where now. I did my best and hooked it back up, but now I have NO picture at all and it smelled like something was burning. Great. So it's unplugged again and I'm guessing a wiring schematic is what I need now?

I'm sorry, I could not see your complete reply before I reposted. I will check out the manual and let you know. Thanks again for your time.

Still having convergance issues. I replaced the 2 convergance ICs, all the resistors and I inspected the board for cracks, etc.. but didn't see any.

Hi! I have found the manual and have replaced the parts listed above. However it did not fix my convergance issues. What else can I do to fix the convergance issue?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, I have to ask, do you have the service manual or at least the schematic diagrams? This is essential to proceed with the diagnosis. If yes, then what is required is to check for the presence or absence of certain voltages at key points. The service manual and/or schematics would direct you where and what reading. The normal procedure would be to check first the area where you originally worked on to double check that what was done before is not contributing to the current issue. Special attention should be given to the solder of the pins of the STK ICs. Thereafter, voltage measurement which would require a live set. If the unit will not come on, are there any blinking lights? If yes how many or is there a sequence? If none, then diagnosis/check shold move to the power supply section.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Appreciate the immediate postback. A request for additional info pls:

    • since parts have been replaced, have you made the necessary alignment? This would be described likewise in the manual;

    • If it will not align, have you checked that the voltages are correct at the proper pins or checkpoints?
I am assuming that the unit powers up, there is video and audio and it is just that the video/display is the issue. Additionally, would it be possible to post an image of your display/video to ascertain probable problem.

    Cheers.

Hi there, the service manual is not available for free download, I still recommend buying the manual if you want to carry on with the repair by yourself. Here is the link for buying the repair manual

    Link to service manual seller.

Regarding the convergence issue, when you have convergence problems, usually you find out that you need to replace the two convergence ICs.
You can test convergence ICs but checking continuity on the pico fuses located at the base of the ICs.

Your TV set mounts STK 392-110convergence ICs, this can be replaced with STK 392-120, that are more resistant.

You can bay replacement STK at any electronic components store.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Philips 60PP9202/17F Projection Television

How old is this tv?

Projection tvs are all basically the same. Most likely it is the coil unless you can find a short somewhere else in the power supply. The coils tend to go after so much use. If you still want to email the schematic, let me know but I think you are right with thinking that it is the coil and it will need to be replaced.

Let me know if you have any further questions as I would be more than happy to answer them for you
