Question about Kenmore Dryers

Open Question

I need to replace the thermal fuse on my kenmore gas dryer, model 110.74892401. Should I go thru the front panel and remove the drum, or can I remove the back panel? It looks like I will have to remove the gas line to take off the back panel.

SOURCE: kenmore gas dryer

It could be the ignitor, you have to open the dryer, take the belt off and start it, if you dont see a red glowing light could be the igniter, you have to disconect it and check for voltage, if you have voltage, replace the igniter

Remove the lower front cover - it has spring-loaded keepers that can be gently pryed and the panel should either hinge down or pop off. The thermal fuse and ignitor are behind this panel.

Kenmore elite 110.7703 no heat

Hi there

From the model number it seems this machine was made by Whirlpool for Kenmore. The thermal fuse is on front bottom near the blower wheel.
a) Pop open the front panel.
b) Then remove front door panel by removing the two secrews
c) Remember to disengage the door switch wiring
d) you will see the thermal fuse near the blower compartment.
e) If thermal fuse is burned out then it should not have continuity on OHMS scale on a multimeter.

WHERE IS THE THERMAL FUSE ON A MODEL 97589210 75892 GAS DRYER

What thermal fuse. Are you talking about the one built into the drum motor, that is not user replaceable, short of replacing the motor.

Gas dryer will not heat up kenmore 80 series heavy duty 72822

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a thermal fuse and or gas valve coils, both are very simple and affordable to replace. To replace the thermal fuse just remove back cover of dryer and look down where the air blows out. Now, just to the left where all the wires are you will see a white plastic part with two wires plugged into it. This part is called a thermal fuse. Just remove these wires and replace the thermal fuse. Now, if this don't solve the problem you will need a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim.

Inspect for breakage, and replace if needed. Happy to help, Tim.

Drum very difficult to turn manually. not spinning with ac on

If your trying to turn the drum from the inside, or by opening the top and trying to turn, there will be some resistance.

What are the symptoms of your problem? Does the drum not turn when the dryer is turned on (with or without clothes)?

If so -

1) the idler roller could be bad
2) The motor is bad

The motor is internally thermally protected and no thermal fuse is used outside of the motor. Only place a thermal fuse is used is to prevent overheating.

Provide more information to you problem.

The lower front panel is not removed to service this unit. All service is done from the top or rear.

Dryer won't stay on.

tc7059d4.jpg9729365.jpg3403fe5.jpgThe wiring diagram for your dryer is shown in the first image below. A thermal fuse is normally in the circuit to the igniter on many gas dryers. I recommend checking this fuse. On dryer model 11073032102, you can access this fuse by _unplugging the dryer, shutting off the gas supply,_ and removing the bottom front service panel as shown in the second image below. On some Kenmore dryers, you have to remove the back panel to access the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing . The third image shows the location and replacement procedure. To test the thermal fuse, remove at least one wire (with the dryer still unplugged) and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse with a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near zero ohms (continuity). If you measure infinite resistance (open), then the thermal fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.NOTE: If the thermal fuse is blown, check the venting for your dryer. Restricted exhaust venting can cause the thermal fuse to blow.
