If firmware to your TV is corrupted by any way, this could happen. A firmware update might be necessary. Contact the authorized service center. Electro help
I've checked the LG support website. The product is discontinued but if you register your product you may get downloads of firmware upgrades, etc. With my phillips I couldn't see any firmware upgrades until I registered my product. Register here!
At the following website there are lg tv firmware updates but the 32lh40 is not listed. Likely you will need to contact lg support. I was looking for one just for general maintenance on the same model. http://us.lgservice.com/vchip_html/V-chip_upgrade_for_your_set.html
It may be a firmware issue if hdmi works with other items such as playstation.
If no hdmi the main Pcb hdmi ports are bad and the main Pcb would have to be replaced.
Consumers cannot upgrade the firmware so a shop would be the only option.
In the menue go to Update firmware. It will display the firmware number. reply no when it ask if you want to upgrade. Contact LG any tell them the numbers. They will tell you if firmware upgrade is current or not. They will send you the upgrade if it's needed.
You need to update to the latest firmware. This was an inherent problem in many LG LCD TVs released around the same time as yours but can be easily resolved by installing the latest firmware. You can call LG to have them send it to you on a USB flash drive or you can go to their website and download it along with the instructions. You will need a USB flash drive an plug it into your TV to intstall the firmware.
