My microwave has started making a slight droning sound. It has also started to have a faint smell but seems to be working ok

Sometimes the insulation on high voltage transformers gradually breaks down. It will emit an odor, and eventually fail completely, probably blowing the main fuse. The unit will continue to operate until the secondary voltage becomes too low for the magnetron to function.

Another possibility is that you have a motor with worn bearings, or binding gears. It could also have insulation breaking down in it.

Convection oven shuts off after a minute when trying to bake. Does this during Compubake also.. Does not preheat

Possibly a bad oven temp sensor. If the uinit doesnt read a temperature it will shut down to prevent a fire or over heating. The temp sensor is a thermister A temperature variable resistor that changes value as the temp changes. so If the main board doesnt get a response within a vertain resistance range it shuts things down. Sometimes since those parts are in the actual cooking area and subject to the heat and steam from cooking they can rust and break, or just get old and break. Or slam the door and break, you get the idea!!

GE JVM1640WB004 light bulbs break off when trying to replace them

GE uses a bulb that includes two flat pins. It looks like a bulb and removable socket, but it isn't. Just a way to cost you more. The bulb is removable from the top where it's mounted, and removed from the hole that it sticks vertically down thru. 1. You have to remove the unit cover to get to the bulb. 2. You have to unplug the connector to remove the bulb. 3. You have to squeeze two plastic pins, to extract the bulb from its location. This is not a common bulb; good luck finding one.

Hi, i have a dirty window , have cleaned both sides without touching it. think its between the glass and the liner. can' find my manual. can i take the bake of the door glass off some way to clean...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. It is hard to take apart without breaking it! It is held together with all plastic clips and they break! But you can by putting a putty knife in the inside door seam all the way around and pry the clips down to pop the door apart.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

I have this inter-grill' not quite sure the spelling, over 1 year old. It is doing everything except heating. timers, lighting etc are ok including inbuilt grill. pls advise

This is happening due to either the magnetron, or the Power Diode, or both, is breaking down, under load, then the unit detects the fault condition, & then, shuts the magnetron down, for safety reasons, to avoid a fire or explosion, so, it shuts down the MW system. You need to take it in to be looked at please obtain a "Quote" before proceeding with any work. This way you can decide to repair or replace

Touch pad on my ge profile jvm2070bh02 will not work when it gets hots. i wait till it cools down, or i shut the power off and it works again till it gets hot.

Heat related issues always boil down to three types of problems.
1. Connectors: not properly seated into their socket; wires not fully locked into their connector. Heat causes expansion which can allow a loose wire/connection to break the circuit.

2. A defective component is breaking down from the heat and causing the control panel to malfunction.

3. A defective circuit board. The heat will cause the circuit board to 'expand' allowing any cracked traces or cracked solder connections to open and cause a malfunction.

If reseating all the connectors associated with the control panel does not help, you just may have to replace the control panel board.

Maytag Microwave Oven (MMV4205AAW) won't power on.

You will need to replace the 20 amp. ceramic fuse inside the unit. This is real easy and the fuse only cost around $10.00 You will find a break down of your unit at just enter your model number and a break down will come up. Your part number is PS2052772. You can also locate where the part goes. Good luck.
