SOURCE: I have a kenmore 70 series gas dryer. It won't

Check the thermal fuse and thermostats first, then the ignitor and the valve coils are the next possibilities.

SOURCE: My 70 series dryer the heating element is not

your voltage is not right as it should be 220 volts, check the outlet to see if you have 220 if you do then its the cord, if not then it is either the outlet or the breaker-panel, to check panel remove panel and test both legs of the breaker you should have 220 if not then replace the 30 amp breaker. Check the coils on gas valve. If igniter glows bright & no CLICK sound heard after a few seconds of igniter glowing, coils are bad, or flame sensor if so equiped

I have a kenmore heavy duty 70 series gas. not heating up. were is the heating element. could you send a technical manual.

Your dryer does not have a element. The problem is either with the igniter, or the gas valve coils. I would replace both of them. I think they would run about $35.00 for both. Here is a link to the parts.

Check the fuse Note: Gas dryer thermofuse is linked to the gas assembly and blows whenever the temp exceeds 350f rapidly. Remove all air restrictions15f9d55.jpgbefore replacing that fuse or you will just need to keep buying em.f8e11bb.jpg65c991e.jpg

Check for burnt out glow ignitor. If okay then check thermal fuse and all other thermostats with ohm meter..... all must be in closed position.

Gas dryer heat is intermediate

does the igniter glow white or orange? if it is orange you need to replace it. has to be white hot to ignite. if the igniter is white it could be the coils not opening the gas valve all the time - an intermittent problem.

Kenmore dryer not heating

Check the following-- Gas valve coils Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Kenmore 70 Series

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.
