thanx a million
Motherboards are built to match specific case (chassis) layouts. I've seen many instances of proprietary motherboards (Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.) being different then the exact same motherboard that the manufacturer makes available to the non-proprietary market.
When purchasing a motherboard for personal projects, I've paid special attention to ordering the correct board (same model number, same printed code on the mobo, etc.) and I've still gotten the wrong board --> it's just one of those things that happens when you deal with purchasing hardware over the Internet.
As far as modifying the Mobo goes...I wouldn't recommend trying it - it's likely that you won't be able to (even if you're pretty handy with soldering and chasing down pin-out connections using schematic diagrams) - I've tried and failed more then a few times - and I have more then a few years of electronics experience under my belt and some formal electronic engineering training to boot!
You're better off returning the board and ordering another one - or...if that's not possible, ordering a different case (they're usually less then $100 if you purchase them online).
Hope that helps...
