Good idea put it on a trickle charge, however, the battery had enough charge init to start the bike initially, and the bike should have charged the battery after 10-20 miles, worth checking the charge rate to the battery from the rectifier,

The battery is full charged but trapidlyu loses its charge after about5 miles

Lead acid batteries can only be discharged so many times before they need to be replaced. Deep-discharging them will also seriously shorten their life.

You probably just need to replace the battery pack with a new one.

I would hate to think a bike that new would already have the start going out. Nine out of ten times when your bike won't start, it is the battery. Test it with a meter to make sure you have a good charge, I mean like 12.7 volts. It could also be a side stand switch, or wiring. Charge your battery if it isn't above 12 volts. Also when you put your bike up for the winter, either remove your battery or charge it every thirty days. This is another problem when your bike sets all winter, your batterys life gets zapped if not properly taken care of, it might not be right away, but hope this helps.

If the bike was not used that often, the previous owner may have started the bike in the garage, just to give the motor a run. With no air travelling over the pipes, they do get very hot.Enough to cause melting. This happens to almost any engine exhaust.(car or bike). If you run it in a garage even a household fan blowing on the pipes is enough to get rid of a lot of the heat.Hope this helps

1550 motor makes noises

most left hand noises invole the compensating sprocket/alternator area, and back along the primary chain to the clutch hub. bearing failure would be noticed at low rpm, so i doubt this problem has anything to do with your 1550 kit

1559 motor makes noises

CHECK everything in the primary, primary chain, adjuster & shoe, all bolts, clutch parts, and very important check alignment of primary chain. If motor was pulled from bike inquire as to if when motor put back if alignment tool was used. Good luck.
